The LG VX11000 EnV Touch firmware version VX11KV08 included a web browser called Polaris 7.

Here is a link to download the Polaris™ Browser 7.0 product brochure PDF (~0.8 MB):

https://www.infraware.co.kr/download.asp?attach=adminupload/Browser 7.0.pdf&rname=Browser 7.0.pdf

Polaris was developed by Infraware, a Korean firm.

Here is an excerpt about Polaris from the Infraware website:

https://www.infraware.co.kr/eng/01_product/product12.asp

Optimized for the mobile environment, Polaris™ Browser can be applied to various mobile platforms, such as BREW, WIPI, WM and Linux. In addition to mobile phones, it can be installed on a range of other mobile devices that are Internet accessible. The component-based flexible software structure can adopt new specifications quickly, and enables fast and efficient customization according to the customer’s needs.

Two other LG phones that use Polaris are the LG Rumor2 (LX265) and Voyager Titanium (VX10000).

Last, for you technical/developer types, there is a download available for Polaris™ Browser For Brew® Mobile Platform:

I like the browser. I think it is a nice improvement from the old one.

I had to get this by restoring the browser through bitpim after the V08 update, but it is so much better than the original browser that I feel like I have a new phone.

Maybe it's because I had the shakes when I re-calibrated my phone after the V08 update ... but I don't really see the "improvement" on this new browser.  I'll keep surfing away, maybe the sites I use don't really use the full extent of the browser since I stick mostly to mobile ones.

Reasons I like the new one after using it a while…

It's the fact that it's MUCH smoother, it wraps text without being in "page width/column view" mode, it saves passwords, it remembers sites that you have logged into much better, it's faster at loading sites, it scrolls more smoothly, there is a portrait qwerty, the favorites menu can be organized into folders, it can open links in new tabs, you can search in a page, the menus are easier to navigate, and the little motions of the menus are just a lot more appealing to the eye (IMO). I also like how enter submits a form on this browser rather than send.

Of course, many of these things are just my opinion, and I can see where someone may prefer the way the old browser worked in some ways (menu animations, portrait qwerty), but I really grew to hate the old browser, and this one reminds me much more of the smartphone browsers I've used.

The gestures feature is a nice idea, but it's really not that useful.

Either way, to me, it's a huge update.

My biggest qualm so far is the Zooming.  It seems counter intuitive.  But then again all the other features are now coming in handy since I started using regular sites.

Yeah, i use the volume buttons to do all of my zooming, or use the double-tap to zoom in to text so that it wraps

i love the new browser!  text wrapping is great.

the biggest problem i had with the old browser was that if i was on a link heavy site like a news site like msnbc, whenever i just wanted to scroll the page, it would select the link.  i kept having to bounce back and forth between opening the phone and just keeping it closed.

the keyboards are nice too!  it's just so much more polished than the old browser.

kudos to LG for providing regular updates.  and not just dumping a phone on the market and moving on to the next phone.

The most amazing feature is now being able to surf and click to call The phone should have been able to to that from the start.

I still find myself having to triple and quadruple click something for the link to initialize, it's rather annoying.  It could be my actual screen ... but even recalibration hasn't helped.

Try recalibrating with a stylus that seemed to work well for me

I'll DEF try recalibrating with a stylus.  But anytime I'm on the bus I DO just use a stylus and it works great. :-)

Is there any way to "open in new tab" from the inside screen?
