I hope my reply is not too late but vz navigator is terrible ! I mainly use it for local searches which it fails 90% of the time. my local sams club didint have the tires i needed so i checked for nearest stores and it not only missed the one i was standing in front of but missed 2 others, not to mention doesnt now their are post offices closer than 12 miles which there are 3. embarrassing program, the data base they used is outdated by many years.Ive opened three trouble tickets with pages of proof and they admit they have issues but i am giving up and getting an iphone where my friends have instant traffic and delays, and incredible apps. try the local search and see if you have the same issues .not sure where you live but i live in s cal so the data base should be accurate here but isnt. I went to visit family in OK and they want to go to a place called Braums ice cream,we passed two on the way to the nearest one navigator found, how embarssing !! i get navigator free cuz of the premium package and i would never pay for such a crappy program,$120.00 a year when you can by a garmin, not that stupid.
It sucks that you have had such a bad experience with VZNav but I live in so Cal too and before I upgraded to my BB I used it almost exclusively on my Voyager and had a success rate near 100%. Not liking VZNav is a pretty weak reason to suddenly jump to an iPhone. There are plenty of apps available for BlackBerries and the Android phones on Verizon that will find local businesses/places of interest and provide accurate driving directions. The main selling point for VZNav over a Garmin for the $120/year is that you always have your phone with you AND it's updated regularly free of charge instead of only having your Garmin in your car and having to buy expensive software updates every year if you want the accurate results.
