Hello everybody!! This is my first post on this forums.

I recently bought an LG Env Touch few months ago without data package.  I am just wondering is there way i can remove any online access so the phone does not go online, like permanently.  I don't want to get charged, some times i end up accidentally clicking on he browser and it goes online.  If anybody can help, it be very helpful.

Welcome to the Boards!  Unfortunately there's no safe way to remove the browser.  If you have it as a shortcut on your home screen just remove it from there, but beyond that all you can do is block data to your phone which might also cut you off from Picture & Video messages.  On the search feature of the boards, a quick search on DATA FEE should show you a lot of different conversations had on the subject.

G'Luck!!

You actually can remove the browser from the phone but it requires the use of bitpim and the files would be completely gone from the phone so you would have to use bitpim again to reload your backup file if you changed your mind about the browser in the future. Unless you are desperate to get it off of your phone, I would not recommend it though. Messing around in the filesystem when you don't know what you are doing is VERY risky.

Thank you for your response, i just contacted verizon rep, and i just asked if they block any services on my phone and in fact they were able to block the following for free, so i told them to do it, long has i get my text messages and picture messages.

BLOCK PREMIUM SMS

BLOCK RBT DOWNLOADS

BLOCK V CAST MUSIC

BLOCK VIDEO DOWNLOADS

BLOCK WEB ACCESS

Quote from Verizon rep:
"Please keep in mind that none of these free blocks will effect your ability to send and receive text or picture messages."

If run into any problems with data even after this, i think i'll just remove the browser using that tool.   For now i think i am good.  Thanks for helping me out. ( RJT185  and e-T )

Will i guess blocking those services did not work, do you happen to have any step by step instructions how to remove the browser from the phone using bitpim.  I think want to go ahead and do it because there will be no use for the browser on this phone.

At best I could only offer general instructions because I don't have a Touch and don't have a map of the bitpim file system tree for that phone to walk you through the steps and then make sure that you are only erasing the appropriate files.  Just make sure you save the entire file system tree before you do ANYTHING with bitpim.
