Present for Christmas 2009

Hi everyone. I got this phone for christmas! A good friend upgraded to the Droid and gave me his "old" phone which is only a few months old. Coming from a Motorola RZR, this phone is a really nice upgrade! Upon calling and inquiring how to activate the phone with Verizon, they said a data plan is now required for $10 with 25mb a month. I'm on my parent's family share plan. Due to issues, I ended up calling Verizon 4 times trying to activate the phone. Interestingly, on the 4th call the Verizon operator did NOT mention a required data plan and activated the phone! Do you think i got away with not getting a data plan?! 

Wow, you guys got back to me really quick! Awesome job!! I did what you suggested and checked my account online.... baa humbug! The required $10 fee was added to my bill, however i'm not fretting much. Guess I now can use my phone in more ways :-) I now have another question now... seeing that i have 25MB a month to play with, does use of  VCast Music and Video part of the allowed data usage? I don't want to incur any additional charges by using such services. Finally a suggestion: Maybe create a topic on the main homescreen informing users of all the free or work-around apps for the phone.
