My last upgrade was to a Dare, and I loved it, but I decided to return it because I didn't think it would hold up well in my pocket all the time. So I go the Moto Krave ZN4....Big Mistake! I hated the Krave so much I sold it to a co-worker for $20 and never looked back. So now I am using my old Moto Slider phone, and my new-every-two is up next month, and now I have to choose again.

I have been doing research for about a month, over the net and in the stores. And I am leaning heavily toward the Dare. And the only reason I am leaning toward the Dare over the Touch is that it's smaller and more pocket-sized. But also I don't know if I really need a physical keyboard. I can text just fine with the on-screen qwerty, so I'm not worried about that.

So other than a keyboard and a bigger frame, what does the Touch offer that the Dare doesn't.

I haven't made up my mind yet, so any input would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Yeah, I know the dare has like an 1100mah and the Touch only a 940 or something like that.

That does matter to me also. I mean, I charge my phone every night anyway, just out of habit. But I definitely don't want it to be almost dead when I plug it in at night. I'd like for it to have at least 3 bars left at the end of the day.

And the Dare's browser's text wrap actually works the way it's supposed to, so you can read a website without a magnifying glass! (or continually scrolling, or in text-only mode)  Sad

You are supposed to be telling me why I should get the Touch, not the Dare. lol

Anyone else regret giving up their Dare for the Touch?

Anyone glad they did it?

I was actually looking at the dare and decided to go with the touch because I'm not very good with my qwerty keyboard. And the Dare that was in store didn't want to work for me. Slow or something.

I am still training my left thumb!!! Even when I had a Blackberry Pearl I still only used my right hand.

I'll give you four reasons:

- Physical qwerty keyboard
- Higher Res screen (Dare has 260K Color TFT, 240x400 Pixels, 2.98" and the Touch has 1,600K Color TFT, 800 x 480 Pixels, 3.00" , freakin beautiful)
- External and Internal screen are pretty much the same (swap the height-width of course), Dare only has one screen
- Internal screen is convenient for watching shows/movies, don't have to hold it the whole time to watch em

I like the EnV Touch because of the keyboard, texting and web capabilities. I saw an interesting post long ago discussing how the Voyager makes an excellent phone for a journalist. The Touch is a vast improvement over the Voyager with a higher rez camera with flash and much better software (i.e. the contacts include addressing now).

Otherwise, look at the Versa or the Chocolate Touch. Supposedly the Versa has very 'nice' software. Detachable keyboard and a case that holds the phone and the keyboard. You can carry just the touch screen phone section and/or the case with keyboard.

Can't say much about the Chocolate Touch since the US version is not out yet (only the GSM edition in Europe is currently available). I know VZW will intro a CDMA version soon. Check out lge.com / lgmobile.com / lgmobilephones.com for more on the Chocolate Touch. Seems kind of big, though, and you mentioned you liked pocket friendly.

Why do you need two screens when you can only see one at a time?
Also, I already said a physcial qwerty is not a big deal for me.

So a sharper resolution screen is about the only advantage so far that I can see. Not worth the bulkyness, in my opinion.

Anyway, I have made my choice and I am not getting the Dare or the ENV-Touch.

I am gonna get the HTC XV6900. It's got all the good stuff about the Dare, plus it is WinMo 6.1 so it has tons of flexibility and available apps. I have been reading about this phone a lot and it is an awesome phone. I love how I can install any WinMo application I want. Also it is so small and slim, even smaller and slimmer than the Dare. Very pocket friendly. And with my upgrade discount it's only $10.00

Some people hate this phone, but I think it's mostly people who have never had a Pocket-PC or WinMo phone before. I have used an HP iPaq and also a Dell Axim for years, so Windows Mobile is a breeze for me. I think I will really like this phone. Finally a good alternative for carrying a PDA and a phone seperately. All the other phones that even compare with this one are just massive.

Anyway, thanks for the input.

So I'm not getting the ENV-Touch, but I am getting the HTC-Touch. Smiley

Thanks. I didn't really consider it a debate though.
