I know myself I am going to stick with the touch until I get back from my next deployment. I have been trying to keep up with what is coming out and all the features so I won't be totally clueless when I get back but by summer of 2013 I predict there will be so many new phones and features it will take me some time to pick out anything.

that phone is under powered, only 800mhtz is pretty week, especially with all the dual cores out there, that phone will never get the gingerbread update which is the newest version of android because of it's lack of power. I would wait for the droid 3 which will be out soon or some of the other newer androids on the way in. I have the original droid and it is overclocked to 800 mhtz and I haven't bothered to port gingerbread to it because of it's lack of power.

Actually it's not underpowered as it's has the 2nd generation snapdragon processor. Which is much faster than the original droid.. It's the same processor in the T-Mobile G2 and the Sprint Evo Shift 4G. And it also can be overclocked. I read on one of the Merge forums someone had one from Alltel or a test one and overclocked it to 1.2 GHZ. Now will it get 2.3 who knows - But if the Evo Shift or G2 can get 2.3 than I am sure the Merge will as well.

overclocking is ok but it really kills the battery and makes the phone run really hot. I myself will not getting anything less than a 4g droid with a dual core, just from experience with the droid and knowing how much better it would run with a higher processing rate, I would personally not get anything lower than a 1 gig.

Mmb27, I see your point. But as of now NONE of the 4g phones for Verizon impress me. To be it's old technology that other carriers have put out so far. And neither will I be impressed with the Droid3 and it's crappy 5 row qwerty kybd. I had the original Droid and just couldn't stand the kybd.

Why does a small cell provider like TM get all the good phones and we get stuff that's a generation old? For example, check out the HTC Sensation 4G (T-Mobile), which has a dual-core 1.2GHz processor and 4.3-inch qHD display, is 4G compatible, and costs $200! VZW, I dare you to compete with that!
