No, I don't think it sucks, but the processor or OS is a little sluggish.

Where I get my reasoning is that although the camera is good when typing with shell closed the touch pad makes plenty of mistakes...over and over again. I had an LG vx 8300 that was solid and a great performer. I just wanted better internet which I got to a point...very slow. My main gripe is I always LG made good phones. (( in the past that is)). Thanks for hearing and responding...Dave Gale

Not at all! Even with a few glitches here and there I still love this phone. My next phone will be the LG Ally unless they come up with a slightly better phone by the time my 2 year is up. I still have another year to go Smiley

is the ally the android lg? if so it feels nice but is by far inferior to the motodroid and droid x and incredible, it is nice like I said but not as powerfull as the others. I really enjoy my droid, eventually I will get around to rooting it so I can run it at 1 gigahertz like all the droids with snap dragon processors

Yes it's the android LG. And the Ally only inferior to the Droid X and the Incredible. The Ally and Droid share the same processor. The difference between the Droid and Ally comes down to the size of the touch screen, camera, built in memory and the max memory the phone can hold.

well..I went out of  town to one of the Napa wineries  andvisit a friend  while I was there I tried to look up a hospital I had to go visit a friend at and no way I was gonna get the web to even start finding it. I gotta find something more responsive even if I have to pay xtra for it...Any suggestions?   Thanks Dave:-[

If that's the case then you need to look into smartphones. I recommend heading to your local verizon store and play around with the smartphones and see which one fits your needs.

@Dave: A smartphone seems to be the answer. As for which one to get? It all really depends on how you're gong to use your phone. If I was in your shoes, I'd take a look at Palm's Pre Plus! I know it's not as popular as some of the other smartphones but consider these points...

1. Cheapest smartphone you can get on Verizon with 2 yr contract ($50).
2. Free MobileHotspot service! You'll be paying an additional $30 a month for data and access to the internet. Wouldn't you want to hook up other devices to it? This is normally another additional $20+ monthly fee service with other smartphones ($30 for data/internet + $20+ for MobileHotspot feature = $50 + your voice and texting plan = $$$$). But for some reason Verizon has waivered the fee for the Palm Pre Plus. You can connect up to 5 WiFi devices (like your laptop) and get on the internet from anywhere!
3. Apps - Like most smartphones these days, Palm has it's own App Store where you can download some of the most popular apps today. Some are even free!
4. WebOS - the operating system is so easy to use! Very similar to iPhone's OS and not as overwhelming as Android's OS. Multitasking on WebOS is a beast! I can see why Apple felt threatened when webOS was first introduced to the world, LoL.
5. Customizable - there's a homebrew scene that hacks the Palm Pre Plus and makes it even better, adding many more features! And it's easy to do!

Those are just my 5 points :-)
I still like my LG EnV Touch but I feel it getting outdated. LG and Verizon didn't stand behind it as much as i was hoping for when i got it. Where are the apps, etc.? Remember the LG Versa?! LoL.

I'd like to upgrade to a Palm Pre Plus (iPhone whenever that becomes a reality) but cannot afford the additional $30+ monthly charge! I'm hoping Verizon starts tiered data plans similar to AT&T's so that all of us can make the move into getting smartphones :-)

I see your points but I have to question some reason why you would even consider the Palm Pre Plus. Especially with Androids OS 2.2 out and soon to be release flash support as well.

1. Cheapest smartphone you can get on Verizon with 2 yr contract ($50).
Wrong, You can get the LG Ally for $49 with 2 yr contract, which is a better phone.

But for some reason
Verizon has waivered the fee for the Palm Pre Plus. You can connect up to 5 WiFi devices
(like your laptop) and get on the internet from anywhere!
Good point, assuming the person would have a need for mobliehotspot. Plus not enough of a reason to get the palm.

3. Apps - Like most smartphones these days, Palm has it's own App Store where you can download some of the most popular apps today. Some are even free!
Same with other smartphones, their are A LOT of free apps available.

4. WebOS - the operating system is so easy to use! Very similar to iPhone's OS and not as overwhelming as Android's OS. Multitasking on WebOS is a beast! I can see why Apple felt threatened when webOS was first introduced to the world, LoL.
It maybe easier to use, but the Andoids OS is here to stay and you can do so much more with the Androids OS than with WebOS and IPhone's OS.

5. Customizable - there's a homebrew scene that hacks the Palm Pre Plus and makes it even better, adding many more features! And it's easy to do!
You can do the same with the LG Ally a cheaper phone for the price. Actually any phone can be rooted these days.

Not saying it's bad advice but imho there is no reason to get a Palm Pre Plus over the Ally, Droid 2, X or Incredible.

palm is never going to last in the market, they can not compete with apple, bb or the android platform, I would go with one of those three if I was looking into getting a smart phone, they will be around a lot longer. I do not find the android platform at all hard to use, it is actually very simple the learning curve was nominal especially compared to a blackberry. As far as apps go, the android platform will own apple soon, especially since it is open source and easier for developers to get their apps to the market place, there are so many free apps available I haven't even begun looking at paid apps yet. just my opinion Wink
