For months now, word of a HD2-type slate hitting Verizon have been floating around.  And no, they weren't talking about the inevitable launch of the yawnish-sorta Nexus One CDMA.  We're talking about the HTC Incredible here, and the buzz keeps coming.

Verizon’s not going to be too happy about this one. From everyone we’ve spoken to, they really wanted to keep details surrounding the Android-powered HTC Incredible underwraps for a while longer. That’s understandable, given that the Incredible blows their current flagship Android device, the Motorola Droid, to smithereens on just about every count.

Alas, all it takes is one device to slip into the wrong hands — and fortunately for us, it has! A bunch of new shots of the HTC Incredible (with brand new, Verizon-brand-friendly colors) have just leaked out, and a gaggle of spec details came with it.

All of these shots and details come by way of Androidforum user/super spy NKT.

The specs confirmed so far:

    * 8 megapixel camera with autofocus
    * Memory: 512 MB ROM, 512 MB RAM (320 free to the user)
    * Android 2.1 with HTC’s Sense UI
    * Optical Trackpad
    * 3.7″ WVGA (800×480) AMOLED Screen
    * 1300mAH battery
    * FM Tuner
    * 802.11b/g WiFi
    * 117.5 mm (L) x 58.5 mm (w) x 11.9 mm (T)
    * 1Ghz Snapdragon processor, underclocked to 768Mhz.

Go ahead – camp out on the edge of your seat for this one. It’s easily one of the most powerful Android handsets coming to the market; it’s a wee bit less powerful than the Nexus One, but packs a beefier camera as a trade off.

What do ya'll think about this one?!

My contract is just about up, and while I have been hesitant to get a touch phone without a physical qwerty keyboard I think this phone might just be the one to convince me to change.

Yeah.  I'm texting less and less ... so the physical keyboard is become less "necessary."

For me, it's the opposite.  I'm texting more and more, so I need a real kb, and a good one like our enV Touch and not a crappy one like the Droid has.

Came really close to getting the Droid, but went with the Touch for 2 reasons. 1)Like Beowolf said,  I text ALOT especially when at work when answering the phone really isn't a option. 2) I really don't have a need for a smart phone and the Touch really gives me just about everything I need. My only true complaint so far is the limited apps available, for example, I can't get the MLB Mobile app on the Touch but you can get it for my old crappy phone LG VX8350 or the Env 3. So annoying!

The MLB mobile and the Pandora mobile app would rock for the touch. I noticed Pandora mobile is available for several AT&T non and smartphones. I am hoping Verizon follows suit and not just have the app for android and blackberry phones.  Cry

I was averaging 10,000+ texts a month ... now that I have a FT job ... it's like 3,000+  lol

I used to think I could only text one a full keyboard too, but my wife has a storm one, which a lot of people didn't like the screen and I can text really well with it. So for my a virtual keyboard shouldn't be too bad, especially on a phone with a really good screen like most of the new droid based phones. to me the incredible only beates the droid in the ram and a bit in the processor, but the droid still boast a higher res screen. I am eligible in a couple of weeks for my upgrade and am still leaning towards the droid, but I guess we will see what is out when I go to upgrade.

Wow, you did 10k texts/mo. before you got a FT job?!  Shocked I do maybe a couple thousand a month and I thought that was a lot.  laugh

I can't T9 text to save my life.  I hated texting on my previous phone (Motorola Razr Maxx Ve), which had its version of T9.  With a full kb, I can text like a madman.  Cool

That makes sense.  I don't like talking on the phone either since it's tougher to multitask talking than it is texting/typing.  Good thing for the unlimited text plan!  angel

Well, I've been lurking over on the Android forums, as I have all but decided (pending holding the phone in my hand) to make the Incredible my first Android. Anyway, I remembered this topic and wanted to let people know that it sounds like it will be released April 25 at Best Buy. Whether or not that's the same date as they Verizon release I don't know.

The specs, in a word, are awesome.

Confirmed:
1 Ghz Snapdragon processor (QSD8650) (245 Mhz at idle)
RAM - 512 MB (320 usable...like N1...more to become available with OS update)
ROM - 512MB flash + 8GB moviNANDe
8 MP camera (Dual flash and AF)
Android 2.1
Sense UI (w/ Friendstream)
Optical track pad (vs. "ball")
3.7 inch screen
WVGA resolution
AMOLED
1300 MaH battery
FM Tuner
802.11 b/g
Dimensions: 117.5 mm (L) x 58.5 mm (w) x 11.9 mm (T)
Weight: 4.59 ounce
No multitouch BUG as found in N1
For all our hearing impaired friends, the Incredible is also confirmed to be (telecoil) T3 compliant

Unconfirmed:
8GB MicroSDHC card
RAM - Possibly 1 gig...further confirmation needed
Noise canceling dual mic? (like on Nexus One)
Release date: Most credible (although still rumored!) date is April 17th, confirmed by several sources, including a few to myself directly...take it for what it's worth.
720p recording: Some recent evidence from a leaked ROM confirm that capability is there...further vetting continues to confirm if capability will be enabled at launch.

^ Cool, so would this be a better phone than a Nexus One or of a similar level?
