Well, preordered the Incredible on Thursday. Went in to a local VZW store today and played around with one and wow! I can only look at my EnV Touch now with contempt, lol. I think it knows I found a younger, faster phone because it has been glitching out pretty bad this evening... it's days are numbered.

Anyway, the Incredible is blazing fast... including the internet, loading apps, whatever. The camera loaded instantly. The only thing I can find wrong with it is it doesn't have a physical camera button, but I can live without that. If anyone is considering the switch to Android, I suggest you check one of these out.

That's great you love the new phone, but one thing that would give me serious concern on getting the Droid Incredible is the lack of a physical keyboard.  I don't think I can get used to the touch screen keyboard.  I have the hardest time texting on friends' iPhones, which have a similar touch screen kb.

I was thinking the same thing initially. I tried typing on it in the store and it wasn't too bad, but a few weeks ago I was introduced to Swype, which should be released shortly, and it is amazing. You should google it if you don't know what it is, but essentially you drag your finger from letter to letter to form words. Everyone I have talked to who has it simply raves about it.

There will probably be a learning curve to learning on the Incredible's keyboard, but it's worth it. Also, the Incredible has voice to text, so that's always an option.

Interesting technology and something I will look into when I get a new phone next summer - whatever will be available by then.  The next time I go to a VZW store, I'll try that as well.

The original Droid has a physical kb, but I thought it was way inferior to the enV Touch's.  However, I still thought it was better than the touch screen kb.  I guess going through the learning curve would help alleviate the lack of physical kb issue.

Any other board members make the jump?  I want to hear more real user reviews, haha.

I think if I can find an app to emulate a T9 WORD keyboard, I'm game.  :-)

ps:  I can get it for $99 since I've got a NE2 discount ... but am trigger shy.  lol

I saw the phone for sale for as low as $99 on Amazon that was mentioned in another forum.  I can find the link if anyone is interested in it.

Edit:  Here's that thread.

has any one read some of the articles that speculate that the eris hasn't gotten any of the os updates like the droid has because of the sense ui? That would be a drawback for me in getting the incredible. right now I can get a really good deal on the motorola droid so I am leaning that way, plus if I overclock the processor I can get it to 1.2 ghz, so other than the sense ui and the better camera they would be pretty equal

Yeah.  I'm texting less and less ... so the physical keyboard is become less "necessary."

For me, it's the opposite.  I'm texting more and more, so I need a real kb, and a good one like our enV Touch and not a crappy one like the Droid has.

If you want to get a smartphone with a real keyboard. The LG Ally is coming next month and has:

3.2 inch display
Android 2.1
And a real Keyboard

All the other specs are at this website   http://www.lgim2.com/#/home

It's tied into the new Iron Man move too. Looks pretty nice though

The processor and screen size don't sell me on the Ally tho.
