When you put music onto your touch can you organize your music?

Or is your music all in one folder and you have to tediously scroll through each song.

Also, can you make playlists? Shuffle feature?

You can make playlists, and it does have a shuffle and a repeat feature.

The Touch automatically put music in to what it thought was the music's genre...Alternative, blues, classic country, classic rock... This seems to be based on the genre that it is set to on your  computer's program...Windows Media Player or ITunes

It also grouped it by artist and album however I have not seen a way that I can organize my music in any other way. The genre, album or artist function seems to always work for me. It does have a Genre/Album/Artist folder of None that the phone puts songs in to that have not been classified by your computer.

Hope this helps

I wish the Touch would recognize separate music folders.  The Touch's automatic organization isn't always accurate.  That could very well be because the music isn't properly tagged but if the Touch recognized folders created by the user, it wouldn't be an issue.

this isn't new.  ever since the ipod, it's all about metadata.  if you think the folder situation is bad on the touch, you haven't seen the structure on the ipod.  every mp3 has a random filename and it's all in one folder.  it's up to itunes to manage it all.

i prefer physical separation of songs too.  because if i wanted a folder with just the newest songs, i would just have to throw it into one folder so that it's not mixed with the other songs.  but now, i have to tag all my top40 songs of the week into the same meta album.
