I was just wondering how many people are using this device as one of their main portable mp3 players.  I got this phone along with a 16gb micro sd card to fit all my songs and texting abilities into one item.  I have about 1400 songs, but experience a long delay between songs.  Just wondering how many songs other people have and if they are experiencing this as well.

Good question.  I'm guessing 2.5 or 3 GB on my 8 GB microSDHC card.  I'll take a look at the contents of its my_music folder when I get a chance.

holy crap that's a lot of songs lol.  I only got 1400 total and they are all on my 16gb microSD card and then backed up on my comp.  Do you experience any delaying when switching songs with that many loaded on an 8gb card?

I have an 8GB card, with about only 150 songs, I just sync my Top 150 most played songs to my phone.

No, I don't notice any delays at all.  I do get choppy playback whilst web browsing but otherwise no other problems.  I just updated to firmware version 9 tonight so I am waiting to see if it will improve that but my guess is not.  I use my phone for music at least 2 or 3 hours a day so it is fairly packed, I do keep a few hundred megs open on the card for movies (the new star trek is on the card now).

It is crazy to think back to all the separate things I used to have to own to do all the stuff that this phone does.

I haven't experienced any noticeable delays when songs switch from one to another.  My 8 GB microSDHC card has Class 6 speed, so perhaps that is helping in minimizing the delay.  Cool

Hmm i'm not sure what class my micro sd card is.  What can i use to benchmark the read/write speeds of it?

You should be able to see the class printed on the card itself.  Otherwise you can do a file transfer and see the speed then look at the "theoretical" speeds listed on Wikipedia.

If the class isn't mentioned on the card, it's probably Class 2.

I guess I'm the small fry of the group with only about 400 songs on my 16gb card.  I use mine for movies more.

I just checked the my_music folder of my 8 GB microSDHC card.  It says:
2.17 GB
257 files
20 folders

hmm I don't see any class printed on it so i'm assuming its a class 2 which may be the reason for the delays.  I'll test the theoretical speed once i get some time and then possibly get a faster 16 gb if possible.

EDIT: oh one question though, what is the more accurate way to test theoretical speed, using a card reader or usb mass storage tool on the phone?
