That can't be it.  All of my album art are JPEG's.  JPEG is the most universal digital photo format in the world.  If anything will work in GIF, it will certainly work in JPEG.

Well I finally have the album art situation all figured out (on Mac that is, not sure if it will be exact same for PC er's).  My experience is that the art does not show up on the phone with mp3 files.  I embedded it, and even see them all as the icons (instead of seeing the music note) when looking at the music on the memory card.  I noticed that every one of my files that displayed album art was a .m4a.  The first thing to do is get rid of the DRM by going thru the procedure described elsewhere here, or ante up another .30 cents to Apple.  Make sure your import settings in iTunes preferences are set to AAC - iTunes+, I also added a script file I found on the net to embed the art as your new AAC -.m4a file is playing, the ones from Apple have art embedded, but the ones you convert yourself will not, so as you add it and click ok (from the get info command) you will hear the song 'stammer' for a second and you know you have changed the file.  Locate your iTunes files on your hard drive (HD-users-music-iTunes-iTunes music) and drag and drop to your My Music folder on your card (delete the existing song first from the card and empty the trash), and every one of my files displays properly, the only downside I see is that file sizes are slightly larger, but hey they have 16GB cards now!

I moved all my itunes songs straight to the storage card using the phone's USB cord. They all show the album art. I didn't have to do any conversion to the itunes files. I was very happy about that, also a bit surprised that it worked so well.

Here's an easy way to add missing album art.  Just go to Amazon.com.  Select "Music" in the drop down list of the Search Window.  Put the name of the album in the other Search window.  When the album appears, click on it to get the full size pic.  It should be 240 x 240.  Save the JPEG and rename it "albumart".  Now, all you have to do is place that JPEG in the artist's album folder in the "my_music" folder of your Touch.

Amazon's music database is so large, I doubt there will be an album you can't find.

wmp11 will resize it auomatically to fit the box the album art goes in if the pic is the wrong size

Have a Mac and all my iTunes music has album art, when I transfer music to my microSD card, some has album art, some does not, how do you get them to all transfer with album art?

that one thing I've noticed about itunes, seems there are two different ways that it displays art. automatically getting the artwork associates it differently then when I've had to do it manually.

if you manually put a pic in the song thru itunes, it gets imbedded to the file. the automatic "search for album artwork" only puts it on itunes.

You could try mediamonkey....you can search for and download the album cover to either the file itself or the folder its in.

Heres how I got around the missing album art issue.

I tried syncing via rhapsody and only some of the art transfered over. I also noticed that some of the song information didnt transfer over when I added the song to rhapsody manually. So instead of adding 600 of my songs to rhapsody and RE-adding album art I tried syncing it with Windows Media Player.

And yippy it works! I don't have to re-add any of my album art or update song information. (I'm a neat freak so I already updated this information and added album art when I had my songs on itunes)

that's what I did, I used my micro sd/sd USB adapter, put my micro sd in there, plugged it into my PC, then I downloaded JPEG versions of each album I was missing, named them all "AlbumArt.jpg" and copied them into the individual album folders I have on my micro sd. I don't know if you really have to use the name AlbumArt, but I do know that GIF files DO NOT WORK, only use JPEG.

i think the easiest way is to grab images off of google and put the picture in your mp3 album folder and name the image albumart.jpg

now if your mp3 has an embedded image, it'll override the albumart.jpg image.  in that case, you have to replace the embedded image.

so if you want to easily change your embedded album art in the mp3 file itself, I use tagscanner but you can use any mp3 tagging program.

i actually don't use an external albumart.jpg file as much as embedding the image within the mp3 itself.

the great thing about tagscanner is that you can easily adjust all your tags at once and correct for discrepancies.  I remember on one album, the mp3 player split an album into 2 halves because half of the mp3 files had a minute change in the tag info.  use tagscanner and boom all the mp3 files are back in the same location like they should be.

Cool, that's a nice and simple way of doing it w/o having to resort to Rhapsody, WMP 11, etc.   Cool
