Hello,
Recently purchased enV Touch and learning a lot about the features. As I have a Mac at home (PC at work) and only had access to the Mac...I had lots of trouble transferring data from my Mac to the phone. I ended up get 4GB Micro SD card, formatted on the phone, plugged it into USB port via a card reader. I transferred a few picture and some iTunes music (to the my_music folder on the card). Also transfered a full length .wmv and .mp4 movie to the my_flix folder on the card.

Removed the card from the Mac and put into the phone. I was able to access all the music and pictures thru the media center "my music" and pictures via the "my pictures" but nothing appeared in "my videos" just the error message "NO VIDEO SAVED" when i pushed the button.

Please help--what am i doing wrong for the video?? My understanding thru reading posts and the specs for the phone show that both a mp4 and wmv file should be read.

Can I not play full length movies (the Verizon tech and LG tech both said no for some reason)?
How can I get the movie to play. Please advise.

thank you,Jon

wmv videos won't play on the touch. the touch plays 3gp, 3g2, and mp4 movies.

First, lose the wmv files.  Stick to 3g2 or mp4.  Also keep in mind that you can't just drop any movie file onto your card, even if it is in the proper file format.  You also have to convert it to fit the screen of the phone.

Verizon in-store employees are idiots.  Most of them have no idea what these phones are really capable of doing.  Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain! Tongue

Thanks for the help. Have been experimenting with various formats and finally came up with an answer that, at least, seems to work for me.. both LG and Verizon tech support were waayyy off regarding playing movies. Verizon said they had no record that full length movies would work so they couldn't provide support on that issue--they were really nice about it but wrong. LG tech support said the Micro SD card was just a storage device and the phone couldn't read the videos on the card--even more wrong! Don't know why I wasted my time when i should have waiting for the real experts on this forurm to give me the right answers--very frustrating.

What works--Just format to mp4, put into my_flix folder, click on my videos on the phone and there they are. I used Handbrake on the iMac and was able to format to mp4 (no H264 that didn't work for me) and then it plays great on the Touch.

Only problem I am having now is that the speaker volume during movies seems really low. I have sound turned up almost max and the volume is just ok in a quiet room. Is there a separate control for that somewhere or maybe it's a problem or setting in the mp4 conversion. Any thoughts?
thank you.

Are you watching the movies from the internal screen or the external?

Tried both internal and external--both volumes are pretty low. I know I can turn the speakerphone volume up pretty loud and my music is good too. Maybe something in the movie encoding is my guess unless there is separate volume control for My Videos??

Touch screen, what's that craziness all about?!

I used Handbrake for my video's also.  First of all lets realize that copying commercial DVD's is not legal.  So lets not get to bent out of shape over the technician's not giving out illegal advice.

With that being said, any copies I have made have no audio issues.  I have set all of the audio to stero from the audio tab, from the default Dolby ProLogic (I believe).  Of course watching from the external screen will have muffled sound, however not so much that the level needs to be turned up to much.  It's cleanest when listening from inside.

Where did you get an idea like that?  It is completely legal to make backup copies of dvd's you actually own for your own personal use.  It's not until people start copying dvd's they don't own or start distributing copies to other people that it becomes illegal.

I agree that the sound is pretty low on full length movies.  But it just gives me a reason to plug in a headset when I watch them so I don't have to listen to my nagging wife. Grin

It's not legal to make copies of DVD's you own for any reason. If so, why would they have Copy Right protection? You should read this, although it doesn't stop me Smiley:

BTW, Handbrake works awesome, when used with DVD43.

Read your own article more carefully. As I stated already, it is perfectly legal to make a copy of a DVD that you own for the purpose of backing up your collection.
