I'm going to wait to see what others have to say about it, and have a chance for everyone to work out the glitches that i'm sure the phone will have right away.  Then see if the bugs are something that I can live with or not.  I see a lot of good things about the phone thus far.  but as more people get it, more people will find problems and things they don't like about it.

I'm trying to decide. I am currently spoiled on my iPhone but I miss the physical keyboard. I cant decide between this or the new iPhone coming, my problem is that AT&T sucks where I live. I had the enV 9800 and 9900 and really liked them. Decisions decisions.

i'd actually love to get it asap...as of may 28, i was eligable for an upgrade.  however, with my plan, if i were to get a smartphone, verizon wants like $90 a month FOR ONE PHONE in order to have my amount of minutes, texting, and a data plan.  so yeah i basically said F that.  i was checking out even the env3, but apparnetly since I've got an old, cheaper family plan, they're MAKING me upgrade to a new, more expensive family plan in order to upgrade to ANY phone now!  absolutley ridiculous, but if I have to make the upgrade, I figure why not check out the Touch!

I'm a little unclear from your post but it seems like you were thinking the Touch was a smartphone, which it is not.  Did I misunderstand?

hey guys.  e-T, actually i understand it's not a smartphone.  and really, ive been thinking, i've really got no need for one.  besides, i don't like the $30 more a month for a data plan!!

and choji, yup.  i've got the 550 minutes plan, where its 50 a month on the one line, and 10 per each additional..they want me to do the nationwide.  my plan will be up in sept, but im ready for new every two.. i'm 21 and still on my dads plan, so i've got to talk to him about what we're doing here lol

and see, the thing is...i hardly talk, im a texter.  mom and dad only keep the phone for emergencies, really.  so basically, we hit maybe 100 minutes per month.  now, their lowest plan is 700 minutes.  we will never come CLOSE to that, yet we have to pay for it!! ugh

If the cell phones are really only used for emergencies, I'd suggest having them go to a prepaid plan.  No reason to waste money on a monthly plan if they don't use the phones regularly.  Then, you could switch to a texting-only plan with the Vpak added on.  I'm trying to look up the information on the texting plans now.

*Edit*

Okay, here is the link to Verizon's Nationwide Messaging Plans
http://aboutus.vzw.com/accessibility/nationwidemessaging.html

It looks like unlimited data and mobile web access are included in the monthly plan of $34.99.

hmm, interesting.  i'll def talk to them about it.  my current texting plan is 1500 out of network, and unlimited in, for 15 bucks a month.  it's a good plan, as i used to go over the 500 out of network often.  i dont think they mind paying the price we do for the 3 a month, as they use the phones a bit more than they used to, but still.

hmm thats interesting, but theres NO voice minutes at all?  i mean, i do use voice, but just not really often.

No minutes at all. You would pay for any calls you make at $.40/minute.  The only reason I suggested it was because you said your entire family wasn't passing 100 minutes a month between the 3 of you.  If you want the newer phones that have the html browser capability, and want to maintain a voice plan, there's really no way to avoid the cost of a nationwide plan.

gotcha.  i think we're going to end up upgrading anyway..when i bought the orange env, they were trying to make us pay more and upgrade.  however, dad doesn't take to kindly to BS lol so he called them and a lot went back and forth, and they ended up letting us keep our current plan eventhough it wasn't supported anymore.  doubt they'll do it again, but i think he might just not mind paying the extra money.  i don't think it's that much more.

I plan to upgrade to the Env Touch in August. That is when I am eligible for new-every-two. My final price should be no more than $50 USD (I will order online for the rebate and FREE overnight ship). Also, by then there should be at least one firmware update available  Grin
