My new car (Mazda 3,5 door) is going to have factory installed Bluetooth and it would be nice to just leave the Bluetooth turned on in my enV Touch so it's always ready to go.
How much power does this drain from the phone?
(Yes, I already used SEARCH, but didn't find much useful information)

enuogh to not leave it on.

Do what I do...You can find the "Bluetooth On/Off" in the shortcut menu and put it on ur desktop.  Click it when you want to turn bluetooth on or off, its takes 1 second and saves you a lot of battery.

I use the Bluetooth On/Off shortcut too, except I left it on my Shortcuts tab instead of on the desktop (it wasn't in the shortcuts by default when I received my phone). My battery life is much better now that I use this method.

I concur BT hogs up a lot of power.  I also set up a shortcut to turn on or off BT in 2 buttons (for on) and 1 button (for off).  If you drive and talk a lot, you can consider getting a car charger and keep your phone plugged in while driving and using BT.

With the advent of WiFi N and 4G ... you'd figure the Bluetooth group would develop of lower energy protocol.

Got the car (LOVE it!) and the hands free Bluetooth is a great feature.  When a call comes in, the radio automatically gets silenced.  Also, the Bluetooth recognizes voice commands so I can dial by voice.  This is all probably pretty standard stuff, but it's new to an ol'f*rt like me  Wink
Anyway, I'm pretty bad about remembering to turn off the Bluetooth on my Touch, but it doesn't seem to be a huge power drain after all.  I don't make tons of calls anyway, so a slight drain increase isn't really a problem.  It's worth it to be able to get into my car and know that the phone is ready to go.

Look up Bluetooth 4.0 (we currently use 2.1)
