This peaks my interest.  Might keep me from going to a different phone come next August when it's time for my upgrade.

Great find - I'll keep my eye on that.  The Droid 2 also looks pretty good.  I wonder what phone I'll get next summer when I'll be due for a new phone.  Cool

Will the Env touch2 be a smartphone? Wil LG have fixed all or most of the glitches from the Env touch?

Rumors has it being a smartphone. That is a good question about the glitch fixes for the Env Touch. Some say with vk10 but I haven't heard anything on it.

Will the Env touch2 be a smartphone? Will LG have fixed all or most of the glitches from the Env touch?

Any phone using Android is a smartphone, so yes the EnV Touch 2 will be considered a smartphone.

Any problems of the EnV Touch will not be on the EnV Touch 2 since its different software. The EnV Touch uses a LG/Verizon based OS and has pretty low end hardware which is where a lot of problems come from. The EnV Touch 2 will use Android and much better hardware.

If you want a good look at what the EnV Touch 2 will probably run like, look at the LG Ally. Its the same but only has one screen and slides but it is a Android phone.

Sad to say, I am no longer a EnV Touch owner because I went to my VZW dealer on Monday and asked about my wife's phone which was due for a upgrade and it turned out I was eligible as well. So we both got Ally's since I got a deal of $50 bucks for both ($100 mail in rebate for each, paid $250). Plus I got the cases and got the invisi shield for free for both. There are a few problems but they are probably associated with Android itself. SO far its nice.

I can play Slacker while browsing the web, or playing a game. And I can even get text while doing all that and check my email. Its got live wallpapers (my Samsun A990 could set videos as wallpapers), the same 32.MP camera as the Touch and the same real QWERTY keyboard. Add in a better touch screen and full web its a major upgrade. YouTube also is much faster and better quality. it has 5 home screens oh and I have a GBA emulator running on it.

And comparing the market to the VZW store isn't fair. The amount of apps in the Android Market makes the VZW store look bad and there is a ton of free stuff.

Overall so far I enjoy it so the EnV Touch 2 will also probably be a great phone. So far only the battery life has been meh on the Ally but then again I have only had it a few days. The Ally is set for FroYo (Android 2.2) which is said to give it 30-40% less power draw and improve battery life on top of that as well as performance so I would assume the EnV Touch 2 would also run Android 2.2 over 2.1.

Congrats on your new phone, jimmysmitty.

I hope the enV Touch 2 has at least a 1.2 GHz process and 8 MP camera.

I am sure it will push at least a 5MP camera. But the one thing is since it will have dual screens it might be a tad bulky. But both should be touch at least.

Will be interesting to see the full specs as well as the battery life for a dual touch screen phone.

I know one thing though. Even though I got the Ally (and I don't regret it or my EnV Touch) I am excited for both WP7 as well as Intels Atoms based smartphone CPUs. From what I have seen, the next step Atoms for netbooks can decode dual 1080P HD streams. The smartphone version will only be 720P for obvious reasons but it has independent power planes meaning that if all you need is the music part of the CPU, that's all that gets powered. Something like a weeks worth of music playback straight.

Hopefully this kind of tech makes it possible for something like a EnV Touch 2 to be thin and sleek.

That would be nice. And I don't see a need for a 8 MP camera, 5 MP is more than enough.

From some of the articles I have read it seems it will be the same shell, or at least a clamshell design.  I have a feeling it will be the same shell just with a different proc (maybe from nvidia) sporting android 2.2 and out by the holiday shopping season.

But other phones, like Sprint Evo 4G, have already offered a phone w/ 8 MP camera, so it'd be silly to offer an inferior lens some 6 or 12 mos. after the Evo 4G was released.

I found info that the next Env phone will be called the enV Pro and will be an Android powered phone that is CDMA and GSM. A world phone. I don't have a direct link but if you do a search for enV Pro you can find info on it.
