I haven't seen any confirmation one way or the other regarding the ability to set different ringtones for incoming text messages from your different contacts.  I think one of the most annoying things about the Voyager was the limitation of only having one text message tone for all SMS messages and one for MMS.  If they understand people's desire to have multiple call ringtones, why would they think people would be okay with a single message ringtone?

Not too long ago since I was able to accomplish it on both my VX9800 and VX8300.

I had the 8100 and it worked, didn't work on the 9900. As far as I can tell it doesn't work on the Touch either
