Does anyone have a suggestion for a suitable replacement for the env-touch? I was thinking of a Droid with the slide out keyboard. Are they prone to many glitches? Or is it best to stick with the touch? I already have unlimited internet so I don't think a smart phone contract will be much of a differance. Any ideas?

I would check the plans for I do believe there is a big difference in cost with a smartphone data plan, otherwise more would have smartphones.

yes there is, regardless if you have a unlimited internet access. Once you switch to a smartphone you have to have the min data plan @ 29.99 a month. But if you do switch to a smartphone definitely checkout the LG Ally.

I spoke to a Verizon Rep who told me that compared to my current plan and discounts, A smartphone would cost me $8.00 more a month than I am paying now. My new every 2 isn't due until 3/2011. They say I can upgrade now but I would miss the $50.00 savings. And they can't confirm if the monthly rate will still be the same by 3/11.

Really? Mine would jump from $75 to $90 a $15 difference with the same plan. Oops! My bad I totally forgot to login. Yeah, the difference would be $7

Well I will at least give the touch another chance in the meantime if the v10 update can fix the glitches. I am wondering if the touch was pushed to market too soon resulting in the glitches. Then again, some glitches came with the updates I think. Oh well at least the touch has given us things to talk about on the forums.

The Ally is a perfect replacement for the EnV Touch unless you want to wait for the Touch 2 which is rumored to also be Android. I switched to the Ally due to a killer deal ($50 for Ally's) and its pretty much a EnV Touch ++. Its faster on the internet, has more apps to play with and is just fun as all get out.

I went to the Verizon store for a replacement Env-Touch. The employee told me that if this replacement power cycles they will give me a different phone. Does anyone have an idea of which model phone they would consider a replacement for the Touch?

I can only think of 2 ... Samsung Reality or the Ally. Especially since the Reality is the only 3G phone left in their inventory.

Just thought I'd freshen up the thread. Any ideas for a Touch replacement? I wanted the Motorola Droid 2 but, I don't see it available at Verizon any longer. Is there a Droid 3 in coming out? How about the Ally?

Atm the only replacements are the LG Ally and Droid 2. Hopefully, Verizon will be getting the HTC Merge, but it's been rumored to be going to Alltel or US Celluar. It sucks that Verizon has a limited selection of phones with physical kybds. http://www.androidcentral.com/htc-merge

I have the droid 1, I wanted a physical keyboard when I got it, but I must say that the touch screen on it is awesome, it works so well that it is rare for me to actually use my physical keyboard any longer. When I had a voyager, the touch screen was okay, but the difference between it's touch screen and the droids is incredible. The droid has a glass screen which I am not sure if I could go back to a phone with a plastic one, sure the phone ways a little more, but the screen is virtually scratch proof, and it works flawlessly.
