In this case, the successor to the enV Touch would be what? "Verizon LG enV Touch II"?
Yep, I'm thinking the follow-up to the current Touch would be LG enV Touch 2 (probably not in Roman numerals as you mentioned).  Or LG could retire the enV name altogether and create a new one.  Or better yet, just go back with the VXnnnnn convention.  Our current phone is technically VX11000, I believe, so maybe the next one could be VX12000.  Cool

Could be "LG enV Touch2" as in it'll have like a squared/to the second power thing like what they did with the enV2(squared)... But I kinda like having name on our phones, would you rather tell your friends you have a LG VX11000? or you have the LG enV Touch?

Yeah, I know, which is why, for marketing reasons, LG stopped advertising the VX number and gave it some name.  Yet these phones also have the VX #.

At this point, my bet would be on enV Touch 2, raised or not, so that they can continue to push their "enV" brand.

Well my friends envy my enV since I made so much more social than a Sidekick Tongue .

Anyways, I believe the reason why LG still names them VX#### is because after Verizon's exclusivity contract. the enV series gets sold to Canadian Carriers, But for some reason Telus changed the name to "Keybo", (Oh btw Keybo series starts with enV2)

I was torn either way. I love the fact that it is a touch screen. I decided to spaend a little more to get the touch because I'm one of those people that puts my phone in my back pocket so I didn't want a bunch of random butt calls. (So far that hasn't happened) But I would rather it not be called the Voyager 2, because of all the issues that I have heard about it. But having the enV name does give it some issues as well Such as: random shut down when I am browsing.

Yet my hubby has the original orange since it first came out and has had no issues until it got rained on a few weeks ago.

This is goin sound super stupid, but I straight up would not have gotten this phone if it were called the Voyager2.  Even if it was idential to how this phone is now, I just did not at all like the Voyagers, or anyone I met with one (but that could have been owed to my work environment lol).

Thank goodness it's the enV Touch.  I'm glad they streamlined it with the whole enV series.  Makes for better continuity among phones.

I think it'll just be the enV Touch 2, as well.. unless they decide some clever marketing is in order, and then they could call it the "enVous" or the "enVoy" or something lol. I'm actually surprised they didn't call this the enVoy.  it would have combined "enV" with "Voyager".

oh well!

I just popped into this topic cuz I'm bored...never realized there could be so much history in a phones name! I was working with a (I'm almost embarrassed to admit) LG VX7000 before I got my enV Touch a few days ago, and hadn't really looked into phones much until a few months ago. After reading this topic, I actually REALLY like your suggestion of the enVoy due to the phone's lineage lol.

Here's to hoping they change the name to evVoy!  Tongue

[edit]
They would have to be very careful with that marketing though, cuz people might start calling it the "envy - OY!" mockingly haha

How old is your VX7000?  I'm guessing at least 4 or 5 years old.  I got an LG VX8000 (my 1st camera phone) back in Feb. 2005.  Shocked

Anyway, congrats on finally making the big upgrade.  Cool

I'm trying to remember, but I think I got it in either 03 or 04...it was oooold, but man it hung in there!   Shocked

When I first got it I had it for about a year, then ended up canceling my cell altogether for a couple years, though I still used the phone as an alarm clock haha. When I got it turned on again, it was for work...my boss had a family plan for the people working for him (it was a small business). He added my line to the plan, but his phone was actually broken so he took the upgrade for himself. When I left that job and activated my own plan, I was grandfathered in as having used the upgrade already since I broke off the family plan (wanted to keep my number). I just got ok'd for the $100 off online deal (not the new every 2, but not sure where it fits into verizon's scheme of upgrade options lol).

This upgrade was long overdue, but not for nothing the VX7000 served me well. It was an INCREDIBLY durable and reliable phone. The battery still holds a charge almost 2 days with pretty decent use, and I've never replaced it. I'm hanging onto it as a backup for emergencies. That phone is the main reason I went with LG again...they can take one hell of a beating!  Tongue

Wow, that's quite a testament for the LG VX7000.  Cool  Especially the battery that lasted all those years without wearing down due to all the recharging and draining.

You probably win the award in the "Oldest primary phone to be upgraded to an LG enV Touch" category.  laugh

Yeah, I was particularly impressed with the battery as well. Every so often (but very very infrequently) it would start beeping at me that it had a low battery but still continued to work with regular use for 6-7 hours after it started complaining haha...and it's been sitting turned on (though obviously not in use) since last monday when I got my Touch, and only today did it start beeping at me that it had a low battery. Be interesting to see how long it lasts now before it finally dies lol...

It's not that great, I really dislike the "EnV" title, I prefer something shorter and more simple.
