the name is plain but it fits; don't see the big deal.  Sure it was supposed to be a voyager but they can't do that anymore so why not use the env's new popularity to get some sales?  Hell, it looks like an env on the inside anyway.  And it's a touch screen. Perfect name if you ask me.

I like Cheesy I don't have a problem with it. I have always loved EnV's even though this is practically the Voyager 2.
But if you don't already know (or this has not been said,) the reason why they did NOT call it the Voyager 2 is because a different company already had the Voyager Name Trademarked and Verizon had not known that at the time and then Verizon tried to talk to them but no settlement was reached so they choose the EnV-Touch. To me I like the name I have no issue with it but alot of people are calling it EnV-Touch, EnV-T, and EnV-4 where I am living so im like... just call it the actual name EnV-Touch I mean really. And that is all I have to say sorry for just rambling.. Bye Lips Sealed

I don't care for the name, but at least the name makes some sense as in reference to its touch screen.  It is funny to watch manufacturers try to come up with catchy names that have no real connection to the phone.  Example, "Dare"  what does that name have to do with the phone and its functionality?

from a marketing perspective its nt a bad name. the name "enV" makes people think of high quality texting phones. the touch screen is just an added bonus.

I dont like the name because whenever i say to my friends i got the env touch they mistake it for a phone in the style of the env with no touch screen.

The enV series of Verizon Phones have been my phone ever since the original silver one... For this I am adopted to the name enV... and for this I will not be changing to other cellphone series until the enV has been gone for good, as "enV" just says my name at school. My friends know I use the enV series and I am happy with the name... Besides if LG and Verizon stick with the enV name, that's like Verizon's own line of T-Mobile Sidekicks... In my opinion sticking to enV is an idea I'm loving. Besides wasn't the original enV, Verizon's flagship phone once? then it was the Voyager.... But still you get the point, the name enV is popular in this era of cellphones. of course not as popular as Moto RAZR, BlackBerry, iPhone or Sidekick, but you get the point. at least it's a phone with a history and name. (unlike some phones that only have a model number and that's it... Or unlike how the Moto KRZR wasn't really used and populated much)

I'm indifferent about the name.  I interchange "Touch" and "enV Touch" w/ the occasional "LG enV Touch" if I'm feeling highfalutin. Wink

The "Touch" craze is only going to get worse.  For example, LG is releasing a new Chocolate phone called "LG Chocoate Touch".  Thanks a lot, Apple, for starting the "Touch" craze.  Tongue

I like it.

Voyagers have a bad rep with most people I talk to and some even hate it. So since I have to explain it to some, it takes people's attention away to the fact that it's basically a Voyager 2.

I think the enV name has a better rep, and the 'touch' part sets it apart from the numbered enV's.

Just be glad they didn't name it the enV4.

Who on earth are you talking to?  The Voyager is one of the most popular VZW phones that they've ever had.

Yeah, I most definitely second what E-T said. The Voyager was/is an amazing phone! The Touch embodies everything that I wanted improved w/ the Voyager. I would rather have the Touch called the Voyager 2, but they can't.

Who on earth are you talking to?

A lot of people who switched to sprint, at&t, or t-mobile. Most have palms, iphones, blackberrys etc. I'm the black sheep of my group... but my touch gets a lot of attention because of it  Wink

It would've been weird for them to have called the Touch "enV 4" since enV 3 came out around the same time around early June - maybe 1 or 2 weeks ahead of the Touch.

Define a lot.  I don't mean to pick on you but you seem to be tossing out arbitrary quantifications based on hearing second- and thirdhand reports of a few people that didn't like a particular handset.

Maybe I should have been more specific, but you have the right idea. I honestly couldn't care less whether the Voyager is a good phone or not as I never owned one, but I'm just talking about my personal experience with my friends, coworkers etc. Most are anything-but-Verizon fanboys. So yea, they're defiantly biased. I'm just saying I get less flack for it not being called an Voyager, as awkward as that my sound.

In this case, the successor to the enV Touch would be what? "Verizon LG enV Touch II"?
