you want to make sure you are set to dare voyager or touch.
click view > filesystems
if you set it to the touch you dont need the file system for normal stuff

I'm running into the same problems.  Incurring an exception error when trying to read the phone's phonebook.  I have reinstalled the latest LG Driver 4.9.4, reinstalled BITPim, and restarted.  I'm not sure what else to do.  I have no custom wallpapers, clocks or themes running on it yet either.  Has anyone really got this the read or write anything besides the flash ui?

Thanks for the update.  Any word on when BitPim will officially release the next version that will natively support the Touch?

well from what I understand this was unaltered just compiled from the svn so the coding is official they (the developers) just haven't compiled it yet because the only thing that's changed from test version is the support for this phone, its supposed to be roughly every 3 weeks that they release updates (don't remember where I heard that) but there aren't any updates so that's why the version with touch support has yet to be compiled... from my understanding lol... who knows I could be on crack

EDIT:

finally got around to testing it myself and it detected my phone and copied my contacts (to PC) flawlessly even copying speed dial number (numbers appear in brackets after phone number ie 727 555 5555 [2]. What I did notice is its supposed to support favorites but I don't see anything anywhere that looks like favorites .

EDIT: EDIT: Added calendar (to phone) and my phone instantly shutdown and powered on... for some reason I think this might be by design because all my calendar events got transferred (checked once the phone turned back on). It could also be because the calender data came from a VX8300

EDIT: EDIT: EDIT: Just wanted to say that this didn't break my contacts or calender, as in I can make and edit contacts and calender events and they save properly and are still there after turning the phone off and on (this was the problem with the Voyager settings).

When you send data to your phone through the normal interface in bitpim, it is supposed to power cycle the phone automatically.  That is a normal function of the program, just so you know.  Adding and deleting directly through the filesystem doesn't get that same reaction because the program is interfacing differently and most of the time you have to manually power down and back on for the changes to take effect.

hrrm my VX8300 never power cycled (could be all I did was add ring tones and wallpapers) so it kind caught me off guard. Thanks for the info though now I won't have to freak out the next time it happens lol.

This Bitpim mod works well for me whereas the "Dare" manual setting was quite limited in function.  Thanks a ton for doing this.

Idk Why everyone thinks bitpim affects what our phone can do.
BitPim supporting the touch allows us  to have better/easier access.
As of now, there is no way for us to put .jar's on our phone.
If bitpim supported everyphone in the world to fullest capacity, and we didn't find where/how to put Java Based Games (.jar/.jad) on the phone, we still couldn't do it.

It's not officially supported yet.  I believe the 1.07 on their site is still in beta state.  But I assume it works w/o any problems (I haven't tried yet).
