Officially supported or not, bitpim won't allow people to add java games to a BREW phone.

I've read through just about all the forums and have seen the image walkthroughs, but I can't get bitpim to work far enough to do anything.

I can get up to where it recognizes my phone and that it is a voyager and it asks for the phone owners name, after that I can click on the folders (phonebook, media, memo...) but they are all empty.

Any help is appreciated

You can't work with bitpim through those menus.  You have to use the filesystem because bitpim doesn't officially support the Touch yet.

oh ok, that was my next question, but I just realized I had to click view > view filesystem

i must have over looked that on the walkthrough

thanks!

edit: i made my ringtone earlier as an mp3, but how do i go about putting it on the phone using filesystem, where do i go under, all i can find on the site is about clocks and that seems a completely different thing altogether

^ Your best bet is to put your ringtones in the "my_sounds" folder on your microSD(HC) card.  You do have that card, right?  Then navigate to My Sounds, find that ringtone, and set it as you wish.

I actually got my phone over the weekend and just oredered a 4GB micro SD card off of ebay, I'm not sure if it is HC though.

So you must have a SD card to do anything using bitpim?

Absolutely not.  Actually, there is no reason to access the memory card using bitpim.  Bitpim is designed for accessing the phone's internal memory.

As e-T mentioned, they're different concepts.  But for ring tones, there really is no need to use BitPim.  Just use the card that you just ordered.  Since it's 4 GB, I believe it's HC since I don't think they make non-HC anymore at that capacity.  (2 GB and smaller is just microSD).

You'd only need to use BitPim if you wanted to change files that came w/ the phone, such as replacing certain apps w/ games, etc.

alright, i looked on the ebay listing and it is HC, it wouldnt make much sense for 4 gigs to be anything but high capacity on something so small as that (it still amazes me).

I plan on using bitpim later on once I get a little more use to my phone.

1.0.7.20090722 (22 July 2009) works fine with my Touch. Detects it, I can load call history, ringers, etc.

Just a heads up:

Bitpim will recognize the Touch, but the address book function isn't working for me.  It will back it up, but won't reload it.

I'm new to Bitpim...what all does it do? And for some reason I was not able to get it...It kept giving me errors saying that re-intalling might help but never did...so thanks for the post as I finally got it to work.

What all can I do on Bitpim?
Can I make new themes, wallpapers, etc?

*edit* ok so I got bit pim to work on my laptop but for some reason I can't get it to detect my phone on my netbook...laptop got a virus. what do i do? I have tried re-installing, downloading the dll file that says it is missing, downgrading...HELP!!!

*edit* now it is saying my phone is manually set how do I change that?

I hope you don't mind me quoting this but... here's a tip or two:
1) Anything less than 2 GB = MicroSD only (watch out for some cards that are only SD-compatible; some cards do not recognize each other between an SD and an SDHC card)
Anything from 4 GB and up (let's say up to 64 GB) = MicroSDHC (HC stands for "High Capacity).

Dang.. just forgot what I was going to put up tip #2... ha ha. Oh well! Oh yeah! "Class"
Keep in mind that the speed of CLASS do have its own speed.. such as transferring files between the PC/Mac and the card. If I remember correctly... "Class 2" = 2 Mb or MB/sec; "Class 4" = 4 Mb or MB/sec... and finally "Class 6" = 6 Mb or MB/sec... higher class # = faster data rate of speed between phone'/card and computer.

Bitpim detects my phone but when trying to access the file system or anything else on the phone, I get the following error:

Device needs attention - LG-VX11000 (enV Touch) on COM21
LG-VX11000 (enV Touch) on COM21: The phone is not responding while transitioning mode from none to brew.

Anyone know what might be causing this error?
