The battery life on my phone was horrible. I was about to take the phone back and have them check the battery when I came across this thread. I performed the *228 suggestion and WOW, what a difference in battery life!!  I would say the battery life has increased by 2/3 more time... if not more.  Thanks for the tip... it saved me a lot of time and hassles!!

I tried it after reading this.  The battery seems a little better but didn't notice much of a difference with the roaming upgrade.

so my battery would barely last 8 hours. I took it back to verizon and they gave me a new battery.  It worked PERFECT for one day. it didn't even lose a f***ing bar.  Plugged it in to fully charge it (it hadn't lost a bar but did need to be recharged...it charged for a few minutes before it was done) and turned it off.  Got up the next day to go to work for a 7 am to 4 pm shift.  Once again, it barely lasted 8 hours despite the fact it worked perfect the previous day.  I get home and recharge it for a bit to where it has two bars.  Been using it for about 6 hours and it hasn't lost one f***ing bar.  This battery is f***ing retarded.  sometime it works sometimes it doesn't.  Definitely going to take this phone back asap if the battery isn't fixed soon with an update or something.

Do me a favor and don't use so many swear words in your posts, even with the asterisks filling in.  There's no need for it to be so abundant in any post made on a public forum.

Thank you

so i talked to verizon and they said (and this is my new battery that i got for it) that I should let it decharge completely and then recharge it.  I did that and today the battery lasted very long, in fact the phone has been on 12 hours and i've texted A TON and called a decent amount and it's only on half way.  So far, so good.  Maybe all I had WAS a bad battery.

meh, battery ended up going dead soon after I made this post laugh

i broke down and just an extended battery.  It actually doesn't look that bulky and still fits into my case.  The battery lasts forever.  Obviously when I got it, it wasn't even fully charged and it isn't any where near dying.  They are out of stock on the verizon website but your local verizon store should have them.  They are 50 bucks but I get an employee discount from my employer so it was only 40 bucks for me Smiley

well almost got another phone but decided to save some money and try out the extended battery.   Holy smokes, it is great.  I've been using the heck out of the phone and haven't even put a dent in it.  I love my phone now Smiley

Well I updated to the most recent firmware (04) and it has seem to fix my battery life issue.  When I first got it I was on the internet and I was playing games for 20 mins at a time and after one hour of use my battery was down by 50%.
Since the update I can use it the same amount of time using the internet or playing games and I dont even lose a bar.  I haven't tested it extensively but it seems to have fix the problem on my phone.

Update

Okay, well the update deffinitely helped my battery life but not as great as I thought it did.  I am able to do some moderate gaming, browsing, texting and calling.  But I am on my last battery bar around 10pm.  So you will definitely have to charge every night.  That kinda suck because if I forget to charge at night then I gotta carry my cable around with me to work so I can charge my phone at my work comp.

I heard from someone who has talked to Lg customer service. They said that charging the phone with the phone off dramatically improves the battery life. I have yet to try this, but i will tonight. They swear by it, they said the Lg person said it gives the battery a "deep charge". Idk if that'll help anyone.

Got my touch last friday and it came with the V04 software on it.  So far the battery life seems decent.  Listened to music for 3 hours today and been texting throughout the whole day and i only just lost 1 bar bout half hour before i posted this.

one of the biggest consumptions on battery life can be if your signal strength is not at full power, if its only at 4 or less it can drain your battery life, aswell as constantly using touchscreen versus internal screen

you could try turning on airplane mode if your just listening to music or playing games, in my experience ive found that using airplane mode to turn off the signal network receiver dramatically boosted longevity (on my old voyager it'd drain after about 3days of little to no use, with airplane mode it'd last almost a week)

Why are you buying phones like the Voyager and Touch if you can afford to leave the radio off that much?  Seems like you would be better off with a more basic handset.

Dialing *228 hitting send and then pressing 1 basically just programs/updates your phone over the air. I do not recommend doing this if you have no signal, after doing this with my Lg Chocolate 2 I was no longer able to boot it back up which how I got my free upgrade. Now, if you plan to do this, it does fix your phone's bugs/glitches/battery life. I have talked to Verizon and they also told me it searches for new Verizon cell phone towers. Do this at least once a month, I have seen great improves over the years.  Smiley

*228 option 2 is the one that updates the roaming list for your phone.  Not option 1.
