I heard form many people on the forum that the update is nothing to be excited about, I'd like some reassurance. But my initial question is that 'does doing a firmware upgrade have a high potential in data loss, i.e. pictures, videos, notes, and so on?'   I heard from a Verizon rep that there may be a  chance that that will happen during the process.  If that is the case would it be a good Idea to back it up in Bitpim, then do the upgrade myself, then reinstall the backed up data?  By doing that would that interfere with the upgraded firmware when reinstalling the data from V03?

Thanks a bunch in advanced

The solution I use is to have all my pics, videos, and tunes on my MicroSD card and remove the card before I go do the updates. So far I have not had any problems with putting my card back in after the firmware upgrade. This way if the upgrade does go bad you still have all your media backed up. As for contacts I would suggest the backup assistant as long as you're signed up for my verizon as it is free and automatically backs up your contacts. Hope this helps!

I would get a hold of BitPim and use that to back everything up. Not only does it do your contacts, but you can backup calendar events, ringtones, and any images on the phone itself...and you can even have custom animated backgrounds and menus
