There is some talk on Howardforums about the existance of a V07 firmware for the Env Touch.  I made phonecalls to both a local retail store, and my corporate support rep, and they both confirmed that V07 is available.  Neither had any info on what has been changed/fixed.

I don't have a Touch in my hands with V07 on it yet, so can't confirm 100%, but this sounds promising.

Based on my Google searching skills apparently V07 has better Calibration, autofill someone's name using right arrow (don't understand this) and speakerphone with the phone closed... the last one being pretty cool. I will continue to look, and if my local Verizon carries this I will get it updated tomorrow. Good find, this came about pretty fast after v05.

Apparently for some reason this is not available with the LG Updater, you have to go to a local store. Call first because it doesn't sound like all of them have it yet. Mine is usually on the ball so I will try to get it done tomorrow. My phone has been glitching a lot lately so I wouldn't be too upset if they brick it and give me a new one ;-). In addition to the speaker phone update, I guess it also fixes certain issues with the proximity sensor, reduces power usage on certain websites, and addresses some other bugs. One thing I REALLY would like to see is some type of docking system for shortcuts on the desktop, because I drag those things all over the place. I will give you guys an update tomorrow if I am successful, and if the store isn't too busy try to get a list of fixes (although it's usually a mad house in there).

I took my phone into the store on December 6th.  I was running V03 prior to the update to V07.  The touch capabilities seem more responsive and it is possible to use the speakerphone with the phone closed.  Not too shabby.

Thanks for the update.  What happened to V06?  That seems odd that this FW isn't available for the DIY update that some of us have done for V04 and V05.  Once firmware V8 comes along, will that give it some extra horsepower?  Grin Cheesy laugh

With everyone of my previous phones they only released odd-numbered updates (V03, V05, V07, etc). I always assumed even numbered ones were Beta and thus not released to the public. I'm not sure why V04 was released for this phone, but I am willing to bet than we will only see odd-numbered updates from now on.

I am leaving to go get this update in a couple of hours. My store has it thankfully.

How did you find out do you just call them and they will tell you if they have the update?

There's really no pattern to this, it just has to do with which builds pass regression testing.  There was most likely a v06 build that had some problem that prevented them from releasing it.  On a continuous development cycle, it makes more sense to just address those problems in the next build (which may have already been close to release-ready while v06 was still being tested).

Every release was a beta at some point, and the odd-even numbering thing doesn't have any significance.

Cheese - yes just call and ask them if they have the V07 firmware for the Env Touch. If you have multiple stores in your area, it may only be available at the main store.

Updated the phone, didn't really notice anything different except the external speakerphone, which is as nice as possible without a dedicated button (you have to hit settings in-call to access, unless I am missing something).

On an unrelated note, I really hate Verizon for making Droid data plans more expensive. I played with the Motorola Droid for a bit and fell in love with it. There were like 40 apps on the one in the store. I am available for an upgrade in about 3 months and I think I have to switch to android.

I upgraded to vx11kv07 using the LG phone update software.

System:
Windows XP Pro sp3 (sorry Mac users, you only have FOTA)
4GB RAM (well Windows sees like 3.2GB of it)
Pentium 4 3GHz cpu
LG USB Driver version 4.9.6
LGMobile Support Tool v1.0.1.5

1) If necessary, download then install the latest LG USB driver. Just do a forum search to get the link.
2) Download then install the LGMobile Support software. Again, search the forum for the link.
3) Turn off phone.
4) Remove microSD
5) Connect phone to computer using the USB cable. Windows should detect the phone as new hardware. The phone should enter charging state.
6) Launch LGMobile Support.
7) Click on Start Updating then follow the prompts.

My total elapsed time was 20:21.

See the help file for troubleshooting tips.

The firmware file that was downloaded was about 96MB in size.

Go to Customer Support-->Supporting Model to see the phones that can be flashed using the updater.

There is a menu that enables download of the latest driver and documentation.

Thanks for reading.

I'll try out the firmware update when I get a chance - but it might not be for a little while.
