I just completed updating to VX11KV10, OTA.  The process took less than five minutes, there are a couple of times which I needed to press the OK button, and then during the actual update, after the file is downloaded the phone goes offline for about 1 minutes, when the actual files are changing.  I previously had V09.
The only change I initially see is the subversion of the Polaris browser has changed.

I've got v03 on my phone; I'd love to update, maybe the random crashing and loss of settings will go away.  But whenever I check for an update, it tells me there are none available, is there something special I need to do??

Based on what I've read, the upgrade to V09 was so large that it could not be done OTA.  As you have a version that is earlier than that, I would expect that to be the reason you cannot upgrade OTA.  Suggest visiting a Verizon store (not a reseller, but a company-operated storefront).  They should be able to do it for you.  You will want to be sure they upgrade you to at least V11, as V10 was a problem.  When I upgraded to V09 from V05, that resolved the loss of settings issue.  Nothing so far has resolved the occasional reboots when entering the browser, the occasional lockups when unplugging the charger and other random irritations.

I wonder if LG even still supports this phone in terms of releasing firmware updates. Huh?

Funny you say that.  I noticed the other day a fellow co-worker has a touch and pointed him to this site.  He is on v04.  He downloaded the LGupdater and it stated there were no updates for the phone, leading me to believe that they are no longer supporting updates and relying on the VZW store if you still have an old firmware version. Unfortunately there are no more updates available for the phone. The lastest upgrade was from VX11KV10 to VX11KV11. I think that was sometime last Nov or Dec.

Wow, that's cool you noticed a coworker w/ the same phone.  Wow, he is old school with V04.  I'm still at V07 and will probably stay there since I don't have a data plan, therefore, the Polaris browser doesn't matter to me.  My phone still occasionally reboots.  For example, when I woke up this morning, my phone was locked, which only occurs when it's powered off and back on.  At least it doesn't just turn off (as long the battery is not drained), otherwise the alarm clock wouldn't work.  Shocked

cthunder, I suppose we shouldn't be surprised.  Manufacturers probably only really support phones for about 1 or 1.5 years from release date, although it would be nice for them to support it for over 2 years.

It would be nice, especially for when web sites use newer versions of flash and the software installed on the phone is so old features are missed.

Yeah, good point about Flash since it's updated periodically.  I think my next phone will most likely be an Android, so at least that's pretty well maintained. Smiley

Yeah I am leaning that way myself. I am really hoping the HTC Merge comes to Verizon in May or June. Here are a couple of links on the phone.

Wow, that video is 6 mos. old.  That looks like a nice phone since it also has a physical keyboard, which I want.  Too bad it doesn't have a dedicated # row.  I'll be ready for a new phone by summertime.  Cool

once you own a touch screen phone with a good screen you really won't use or need to use a physical keyboard.I have the original droid now and never use the actually keyboard any longer, the touch screen is so much easier and accurate that the physical one is really obsolete.

I know many people have said that, esp. those who use SWYPE, but I have a hard time believing that I can be as proficient texting w/ a screen virtual keyboard rather than a physical one. : \

For quick msg I use the screen but for longer msg I like the feel of the keyboard much better.  Something about the stroke of the keys.

For me, it's the tactile feedback of the keys.  And the fact that I could sometimes type w/o looking based on the feel of the keys.  With the screen, I wouldn't know exactly where one letter starts and ends w/o looking at the screen.
