How can you tell if you do have automatic updates (other than all of a sudden you have v04) and how do you turn them off (I would rather not be dieing in the back of a trunk while a phone is unusable, by updating some firmware)

You know I just thought of something, I didn't pay much attention when it actually did update; but, isn't there an option to abort/cancel while its updating? I thought I saw one, but like I said I didn't pay that much attention once it started so I could be wrong.

Some of you may disagree with this, but I find it easier when I turn off my phone at night, wake up, go to college (better signal there), then update my phone. Because, I am afraid of the automatic update at night. When I actually have it with me, I have my notification alarm go off and tell me that its trying to update. From there on, I can tell whether or not I want to update it. Thats what I do..  Roll Eyes

the chances of someone being in such an extreme emergency to where their cell phone is of the utmost importance (this is real life, not hollywood) so the updates getting in the way of usage aren't a big deal.  in such a situation, you are probably going to die whether you have a phone or not.

I know Im a YEAR late but well said...Hurricane katrina, are u serious? Even the police ran... you are giving cell phone usage too much credit. What about the Twin towers and on those planes, cell phones didnt do jack. U need pistols in these situations you're coming up with. What did we do 20yrs ago?

I updated my env to ver08 from ver07 and could no longer access my files via usb and had to use bitpim. Then my phone got sucked out of my vest pocket while on a poker run and did cartwheels down the road. I'd though I'd lost it until a hiway patrol  returned it(sans mem card). The touch screen was trashed but could still make phone calls(LG's are TUFF!) i replaced it and refuse to update from ver07

I have been running V11 for quite some time now with no issues.  I must say, the new browser is worth the upgrade in versions, that is if you use it much.  Nothing wrong with v07, I just like the browser and the net seems a bit quicker.
