"Current owners of non-smartphones can upgrade to smartphones at the 2 yr promotional upgrade price regardless of the lenght of the contract at any time, the only condition being that you obviously extend your contract another 2 yrs and that you live in certain markets."
Let's see, stick with the Touch (no data plan required atm) which is the next best thing to a smartphone. Or upgrade to a Droid, HTC Incredible, or any upcoming smartphone + a $30 a month data plan. I think not, I am perfectly content with the Touch for the moment.

I will be getting my FIFTH Touch tomorrow. I spent about and hour and a half in a verizon store Friday and walked out with a phone that STILL does not work correctly. I've sent a rather strongly worded email to Verizon's Corperate Responsibility email address. At this point I am SO disgusted with the way verizon has handled this.
I found out that I discovered a glitch within the Polaris 7 browser that up until I brought it to their attention no one knew about. After sending me Touch after Touch that don't operate properly, I've been offered a Samsung Rogue. My problem with all of this is the fact that this is my third contract with Verizon Wireless. I've been with the company for going on 6 years now. Every contract has been started with a phone of MY choosing. But now that I'm having problems I've basically been told that my choices are as follows. 1) Keep getting a flawed Touch (Refurbished of course); 2) Accept a Refurbished Samsung Rogue; or 3) pay an absurd amount to get a brand NEW phone.
I say, if they're going to give me a refurb...why can't I get a refurbished Droid...or some other phone of my choosing...At one point I was perhaps willing to accept such idiocy. BUT after my girlfriend and I spent all that time at the Verizon Store just to walk out with no resolution (Oh, by the way Store reps can no longer switch you from a device that doesn't work to a device that does ie from one model to another) Oh...not to mention the fact that they told me to go home and call National Customer support....What a joke.
Like I said, at one point I was maybe open to the idea of the Samsung Rogue. But after all this...I am going to fight until I get what I want. And honestly...From what I've read, I'm not the only one gettin' the shaft from Verizon. I say WE ALL fight for what we want...Which are phones of our choosing that friggin' work!

^ I can only imagine how frustrating that must be. So what glitch did you find w/ the new browser?

^ I can only imagine how frustrating that must be. So what glitch did you find w/ the new browser? If you clear all the memory from the advanced settings menu the browser crashes...And that's the predictable crash. Other times it'll crash for no apparnet reason at all causing the phone to power-cycle all on its own.

That stinks - I'm surprised something that apparent isn't supposedly fixed, even w/ firmware V09.

@ExplodedCaesar After you clear "All" press the CLOSE button on the touch screen. I've noticed that for the most part the crashed happen when you're anywhere in the Settings screen of the browser and press the END hard key. Good Luck!
@cthunder That's not entirely true. If you buy a new envTouch you must have the minimum data plan. If you already purchased one prior to the new policy then you're safe. However only until you make a "material" change to your contract at which point you're no longer protected by the grandfathering.

Oh I see the confusion. That should have read, I don't have a data plan atm. Not that one isn't required. Sorry for the mix up.

No prob! Just don't let any VZW emp fool you into switching things with your plan unless you really need the change, haha, they're trying to trick people left & right. They ABSOLUTELY hate the fact that I'm still using the VCAST VPAK.

I know my next phone will have a data plan. So I have a little over 1 year to enjoy the "cheaper" rate before I get a new phone after the contract is up.

I am just updating to V09 as I type this, using the LG Mobile Phone Software Update Program. I Updated the USB driver using the same program first, before I connected the phone.
Hopefully it will work well....I couldnt stand the V04 behavior and restarts anymore. hmmmm....
It just displayed "Not Support Version" in the Software Update screen.
Didn't give me an option to select V05 - V08, 9 was the only option

You only get the latest firmware to update to. And you can't go back to an older version (in case anyone is wondering) via the on-line update. Maybe you could at the store and have them reflash it.
