When they reflashed it to V07, was it like getting a firmware upgrade without any data loss, or did the phone reset?

What a vicious loop.  Install new driver, start update, install new driver, start update, install new driver, start update.  This program is a joke.  Had no problems going from 3 to 5.  Had this issue going to 7 and still with 8.  Off to the store I guess. Roll Eyes

what does it mean when you turn your phone on and all it says is downloading do not unplug!! and it wont do anything else

Your phone may be bricked.

I have seen posts from several people at HoFo who ungplugged their phones before the updater hit 100% and they had the same symptoms.

At 99% the phone restarts, but stays in a 59 to 0 second countdown loop for a long time before hitting 100%.

Try using LGNPST Lab to do an emergency recovery. Page 44 of the manual says to hold down the 5 key while connecting the USB cable.

Unfortunately, you need the VX11000 DLL for LGNPST. Alternatively, try the DLL for another phone like the VX9100 or VX9700. I have seen posts from folks who flashed their Voyagers with the VX9100 DLL, so it may work.

There is also that manual VX11000 DLL install hack, but I don't have much faith in that.

MacGyver:

Please try to run the LG update again and reflash.

If no joy then PM me. If you are up to the tasks, there are some other procedures to try.

Of course, if you are still within warranty, it may be simplest to just get another phone.

Yes, the browser is different, something called Polar 7.

VZW replaced my phone and the browser is actually "polaris7"

Regarding the issue of EnV Touches being bricked during LG update to VX11KV08:

I just spoke with LG and they said Verizon will reflash the phone, no problem.

If you have had the phone for more than 30 days, then you MAY have to deal with LG for warranty service. Please call 1-800-243-0000 or visit the following link and CHAT (VX11000 is NOT listed):

http://www.lge.com/us/support/product/support-product.jsp

The LG rep said the turnaround is 7 business days. I doubt that.

If you do manage to successfully update and the new browser doesn't crash your phone, here's a little insight into the browser change (amazing it took so long to come to fruition):
http://www.phonenews.com/lg-to-dump-obgio-for-polaris-web-browser-2173/

So, the original Obigo browser has been replaced by Infraware's Polaris 7.

Here's the web site of the company that makes it:
http://www.infraware.co.kr

Hope it's for the best!

UPDATE:

Sorry to be a wet blanket folks, but it looks like there is no way to recover EnV Touches bricked by unplugging before the end of the VX11KV08 update.

My info is from posts by other victims around the web.

One person reported that even Verizon couldn't recover the phone. Luckily, he was able to get a replacement since he had additional coverages.

At this point, I suggest those with destroyed phones try to get replacements from VZW, then go the LG service route.

I wouldn't recommend updating until this one hits the VZW store. I (and a lot of people on other forums) can't use the browser even though the update completed normally.

I took the plunge and got lucky as everything seems fine so far.  2 major issues for me appear to have been addressed.  I can finally use a search engine to find a phone number and click it to have the phone dial it.  Whenever I would try this before I would get a message along the lines of function not supported.   The next is text zooming and fitting to width.  I can finally blow up text and have it fit the width of the screen.  I have only had limited testing so far as the cell signal where I live is terrible but the browser seems really nice for a non "Smart" phone.  There is a new touch keyboard with the browser.  The browser zooming and scrolling seems smoother and more responsive.  I'll play more tomorrow when I have a better signal.

I updated my phone yesterday. On a pc with vista, I encountered a problem. That "looping" that others mentioned -updater continually wants to dl driver. After 5 tries(I'm either dumb or just too stubborn!), I switched to my laptop which has windows xp sp2.

After downloading updater to laptop, I connected phone (phone was powered off and sd card removed) and the process began. It took approx. 20 mins for dl and install to complete.

As of yet, I have no problems(knock on wood). I have so far just noticed the different browser and a somewhat quicker response when using the touch screen to do any scrolling.

I don't know what is with vista, but it gave me a hard time with bitpim also.

Looks like they removed the V08 Firmware from the LG Updater.  I'm assuming they want to get the bugs out before re-releasing it.  Just tried it and got a message that my phone (V07) was already up to date.  I used the latest version of the Updater, V 1.0.1.7.  Also installed the latest USB driver before I tried anything.

Confirmed. As of the time of this post, VX11000 is no longer listed as a supported phone in the LG update software.

The alternative for right now is to use LGNPST. You would need the DLL and the VX11KV08.bin file.

i think i have found the way to solve people whos phones restart when they go to the browser. if you go to bitpim and then the filesystem, there would be a polaris7. if you open it up, compare it to a phone that has the working browser to a phone that doesn't have a working browser. the person without the working browser will have about 75 missing files on the phone for polaris.

I was reading this in another forum.
here is the link for the forum and the page that the person said this:
http://www.envtouch.org/discussion/862/6/firmware-v08-is-out-now/

and here is the link to the download files that phones might be missing:
