Hey guys I'm the one who figured out the repair for the browser, I'm the same guy from the envtouch.org forum.

I made this video showing what the browser can do, theres more information and links to more information in the video description.

Been a Touch owner since day 1, so glad I ran into this before checking for updates on my own.

Confirmed. As of the time of this post, VX11000 is no longer listed as a supported phone in the LG update software.

Yes, it is no longer listed as a supported phone.  But it wasn't listed as a supported phone when I used the LG Updater to update to V07 either.  Officially, the Touch isn't supported, but LG has continued to provide updates for it via their own updater.  When I opened the Updater, it recognized my phone being connected and identified it by model number.  It even told me what firmware was currently installed.  It wouldn't do all of that if it wasn't supported.  It wasn't that my update didn't work.  LG removed V08.  I believe it was because of all of the problems.  Check back at a later date.  I'm sure it will eventually be back on there.

One thing I want to know is if the stores are doing this upgrade or not. I can see LG taking the upgrade off because of issues with the people who unplugged at 99%, and because of issues with the browser. It seems though that some updates had the new browser without issues right from the get-go. Does anyone know if any stores are doing this?

EDIT: I looked at this again after I posted and it seemed oddly worded to me. I just mean that LG didn't want amateurs updating the firmware and left it to the stores.

I think you are referring to the LG Software Updater Application Download page where it says

Phone Models Supported
LX400 - (Sprint)
LX570 - MuziqTM (Sprint)
LX600 - LotusTM (Sprint)
AX265 - Banter (Alltel)
UX700 - (Other)

http://www.lgmobilephones.com/softwaredownload.aspx
http://www.lge.com/us/mobile-phones/beta-program.jsp

In the LG updater software, if you go to Customer Support --> Supporting Model, there is a long list of phones that can be flashed. Please see the screen shot below. Click on the thumbnail to enlarge.

The VX11000 is no longer a part of the list in the software screen.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. So far, I have had no problems, and the new browser seems faster and more responsive. I don't know if it's just me, but the scrolling on the phone seems just a tad bit faster. Other than that. I have seen no new improvements or bugs.

I haven't experienced any problems yet either. ( I hope we don't jinx ourselves!) And yes, I think the scrolling is more responsive.

I think the OTA update searches for the update your carrier has-in my case verizon. they don't have it yet, just lg i think. I've read in earlier post that people didn't have much success using the OTA update.

Firmware updates are "usually" not implemented via OTA.  They're too large for that.  The only exception to this was V03.  That came OTA without warning when I first got my Touch.  Woke up one morning to discover a message on my phone saying it had been updated during the night.  All of the subsequent Firmware updates have been approx. 150 Mb.

I read somewhere, it may have been on here that the firmware file sizes are too big, like Sube said. And since it's just a cellular network, it would take far too long for this file to download. And what would happen if something happened to that connection, or your battery died? Your phone would be bricked and you would have no way of knowing what happened to it. It's too dangerous to send OTA firmware updates like this.
Also, during the time of the update, your phone would be out of service.
