Ya like e-t said, that is a problem that a lot of people have, between not making sure the file is flash 7 or under/or flash lite 2.1, and also the imagae not being the right width and height dimensions.

plug your phone into a different usb port and try that. I was having the same problem, then I just plugged my phone into COM11 and it works fine.

I was having the "can't find port" error too. The help section said to run the "phone wizard" so I did and it found COM4. That finally got me around the port error but after about 2 or 3 minutes of reading my filesystem nothing ever came up. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I have the past 2 Bitpim editions plus I got the new one but that one won't run it gives me a "runtime error". So I'm stuck. When I plug my touch into the usb a folder comes up that says "external memory". Is there a way to add files through that??

Do you have a memory card in the phone with a lot of files on it when you are trying to get bitpim to read the filesystem?  If you do, that will cause the process to take MUCH longer.  If this is the case, try pulling the memory card out before you connect your phone to bitpim.

Yeah I think I fixed it. I forgot to install my new phone onto my computer with the driver's and all that. I remember now the screen popping up about the windows verification and I clicked stop installing. Forgot to reinstall it. Should work now I believe. Thanks for your response.  Smiley

One quick question you may know... I just downloaded a couple music videos from Zedge. They are 3gpp files. Is there a way to add these to my touch with Bitpim??

why would you need to do it via bitpim? jsut use the usb mass storage mode and add it directly to your memory card. if you don't have a memory card you can use bitpim, but I am not sure using the dare settings shows the locations or not since I do not have a touch yet.

You can use the dare or voyager settings to pull up the filesystem.

If you are using your Touch to watch movies from external sources, there is absolutely no reason not to have a memory card.  You can buy 2GB cards for less than $10 now.  And having the card installed makes adding videos, songs and pictures as easy as moving files from a computer to a flash drive.

USB mass storage mode?? I'm sorry I can't get this crap figured out. I've had many phones in the past and had no problems so I don't know what's going on. When I plug my touch in my computer with the USB a folder pops up with the file "external memory". If there's no card in my phone it comes up "internal memory". But when I double click on either one only 2 files pop up: "devicon" & "devlogo". I don't see any type of file I could add anything to. On Bitpim how can I add items to my touch (ie Music, Ringtones, Videos). I seen DS's post about animated wallpapers but that didn't explain where to put music or videos.

The USB Mass Storage function can only be used if you have a microSD card in the phone.  And it is only initiated from the phone's menus, not just by plugging the phone into the computer using the usb cable.

In order to use bitpim to install anything directly through the filesystem, you have to know the proper folder to drop files into.  The Ringtones folder is located under Brew --> Mod --> 10889 --> Ringtones.

For your pictures, you go Brew --> Mod --> 10888

I'm not sure what folder holds videos because I would never use bitpim to transfer videos.  It's a waste of time and internal memory.

*Edit*
A quick test with a video recorded with the phone shows that the video folder is Brew --> Mod --> 10890

Thank you so much for the info. I added a video to the 10890 folder. Do you know what I do after that? Do I restart Bitpim? Do I restart my phone? It's in that folder but still not showing up on my phone. Sorry to bother you again. Thanks.

usually bitpim will restart the phone for you, but since this phone is not 100% supported with bitpim yet you may need to manually reset, I know this needs to be done for ringtones
