I'm posting this here because it might pertain to the drivers. If it's a "glitch" I apologize:
Here's my problem: I can't see the files & folders when I attach my phone to my PC
Here are the details:
I'm running Windows XP SP3
I attach my env touch to my PC via the USB cable and it prompts me to "sync music" on my phone and Windows asks me if I want to - open the device or - Sync digital media files to device - Take no action
I choose open the device and it opens a folder labeled "My Computer\LG VX110000 External Memory" with one icon labeled "External Memory"
I double click it and it opens up "My Computer\LG VX110000 External Memory\External Memory" which contains two files:
- devicon.FIL - devlogo.FIL
That's all I see. I know my micro SD card works, because I can read it find with my adapter.
I've downloaded the drivers from this forum and installed them "successfully" but I'm still not seeing any of the folders and files on my phone other than the ones above.
What am I doing wrong?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Jamie

You have to plug the phone to your computer and on the phone hit not to connect. Then go to menu and tools and mass usb storage. You will see all the folders for the phone. It worked for me.

braves40 has it right. In order to use your phone as a card reader, which is the only way to connect the phone to your computer until bitpim becomes functional for the Touch, is to initiate it through the phone's menus, not through the windows explorer. You should find the option within the tools sub-menu towards the bottom.

I had the same problem until i formatted the sd card while in the phone. In case you haven't done this, go to "settings and tool" then"setting" then "memory" then "card Memory" then select the "options button" then "format" then you should see the folders on the computer and the "flix" folder is where you put videos. hope this helps.

Always good advice Bluemax. Something important to remember is that all information on the card at the time of the format will be lost so you should save anything that you want to keep.

Also for those who want to have a easy way to add music and keep album art you can do this:
Open up WMP11 and have your phone connected to the PC in Sync mode. Click the Sync tab in WMP11 and as long as you have a microSD card in it should use whats available on it as memory. Then just drag your playlist or each song you want individually to the right and click "Sync". Took about 2 minutes for 65 songs for me.
This gives you the songs as well as the album art and info which is usefull. It also puts it in the my_music folder.
And the reason I say to use WMP11 is because it was designed for this type of useage.

I formatted my sd card, opened up "my computer" and the only folders it is showing me for the touch is the external memory one from before. I know my sd card works because it is showing that I have almost 8 gigs of storage available.

Hi,
I am having trouble syncing my phone to my computer at work to put music on my phone. I am using Windows 2000... is that a problem (I know it was with my iphone)? I downloaded some drivers from this website, but I still can't get the phone to synch with Windows Media Player (I think I am stuck at version 9 with my old windows OS), nor can I get it to recognize my phone as a mass storage device (have a 16gb microSD card). Naturally I don't have a card reader on my computer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated... I wa able to sync to my home PC without problem, but if at all possible... I'd much rather sync to my work computer.
edit - Forgot to add that my computer does recognize the phone as a USB mass storage device.. but it says that "this device can not start," though. And I don't see the drive popping up in my computer?

No, but it is highly suggested. There is a limited amount of space in the phone's internal memory. Even if you don't think you need a lot of extra external memory for your cell phone, buy a 1GB card for less than $10 all over the place. That will give you room to grow and appreciate your phone even more while making it easier for you to move music to and from the phone.
