Assuming you have formatted your micro SD card already (Go to Settings>Memory>Card Memory and click format located at the bottom of the screen. It will ask you for your code, which is your last 4 digits of your cell phone number). *Make sure you have saved all data from your card to your computer prior to formatting!*

1) With the micro SD card connected to the computer, drag your mp3 to the "my_sounds" folder.
2) Disconnect the micro SD card from the computer and plug it into your phone.
3) My env touch didn't have "My Sounds" in the shortcuts tab (the little arrow pointing left on the side of the external cell phone screen) so I clicked "Add" at the bottom right, scrolled through the list of possible shortcuts, and clicked "My Sounds".
4) Go back to the shortcut screen and click the "My Sounds" shortcut
5) The name of the MP3 along with a play button to the right should be in the list. Tap the NAME of the song, tap "Set As", then tap "Ringtone".

I put a 13 minute song as my ringtone so I don't think there is much restriction on length.

NOTE: The ringtone is still on the micro SD card. To copy it from the card to the phone:

1) While looking at the list in "My Sounds", click the name of the song, scroll down and tap "Move".
2) Press "Yes" on the box that comes up.
3) Tap the name of the song, click "Set As", and click "Ringtone" to ensure it's still your ringtone.

There you go. There's no "record a sound" and "rename your music file the same name as the sound" etc. You just copy the music file to the My Sounds folder and use the "My Sounds" shortcut to set the ring tone.

This might be easy for some, but this is my first phone I've ever had with capabilities such as micro SD card reading, music playing, internet, etc. I scoured the internet for a couple hours trying to figure out how to set my music as my ringtone. Finally I figured it out and decided to share this with everyone, hopefully to make it easier to find for people like me.

This has been posted. Another thing is there isn't a time limitation... But it will only play about the first 27 seconds... Just a little under the first 30 seconds of the song.

formatting a disk only delete the data tables associated with the data. there are programs available that can recover most if not all of the lost data. you can try a free program like recover files. in the meantime do not save anything new on to your sd card.

Try converting one into a mp3 and then transfer it over.

With any number of media converters.  Try googling for SUPER.  That program will convert all kinds of audio and video files.

If you have an MP3 version of the song, you can actually transfer the file to your PC through using your mass storage option in your phone/tools option.  I have issues with my PC reading my SD card, so this worked just as well.

If you need to convert iTunes songs, you have to burn an (audio) CD with the songs you want.  Then open the CD using iTunes and change your import settings to MP3 converter.  Import the songs from the CD and it will convert the songs to MP3 (but you will have 2 versions of the song on your iTunes library).  Link for instructions of converting MP3 format is below.
