if you can't see it on your options when in "Browse and Download" then yes, you'll need it.  Make sure tho to not "update" any other apps while you're using the different Platform ID or you'll brick that application once you revert to the env Touch platform ID.

Before trying this...what exactly does it show when using facebook? Does it display your wall or news feed?

it shows "Stream" which is your news feed, inbox, and wall.
then other things are twitter, emails, and RSS feeds

Works great!!  Thanks.

Had no problems after returning settings to their original state.  Great workaround!!

Amazing! It works!

So I'm curious, will this work with the old enV games? I miss Metal Gear Solid Mobile 3D on my Original enV and I never finished it since I upgraded 1 month after I bought the game. I don't care if I can't use the external screen, we didn't use our original enV's with the external either (mainly because external sucked) so make it more realistic

From what I've heard, it should work with the old games, though I haven't tried.

Another update about social beat: according to their site on facebook (http://www.facebook.com/socialbeat), there will be a version for the touch out in about 3 weeks. So for those wanting to experience such an awesome app who don't want to do any "hacking," and for those of us who are tired of the annoyances that come with the work around, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I believe Social Beat has now been updated and is fully functional with the touch.  As the touch screen works but for some reason is a little glitchy.  Like it is a beta version or something.  I just dl'd it too and I had not done the op's change to the service menu.
