hey guys. I bricked my phone while updating the firmware through LGNPST. now whenever I turn it on, it goes to the black "Verizon Wireless" screen and that's as far as it goes. I tried to just reflash new firmware back onto it, but LGNPST would only recognize it in contact recovery mode.

I was hoping someone knew of maybe an alternate software that could get around this to reset the phone or something. I already tried taking it in to verizon and they said it was "fried".

The only thing that comes to mind right now is to use BitPim to load up your last backup.  You should be able to connect with it.  I have taken phones from others that had pretty much the same problem and connected through BitPim.

by "backup" do you mean something that I would have had to have done though backup assistant or something? because sadly I never did that. thanks though! I will connect to bitpim and see if anything happens

Sorry, by backup I meant a full backup through BitPim.  You can backup your whole file structure.  Let us know how BitPim works for you.

I have found that the only way BitPim will detect and work with my phone is if it is powered off.

great news! finally fixed my phone after a lot of trial and error through LGNPST. had to search the internet for dll and bin files to use in the "EMERGENCY" mode of LGNSPT. I had a heck of a time finding the right ones but I'm back in business, if anyone needs help I can try my best. although I'm currently on the v4 firmware and can't reactivate my phone. *228 doesn't work, it says "sorry programming failed"

Glad to hear you were able to unbrick the phone.  Never heard of an "Emergency Mode" but good to know.  Thanks for sharing.

had to get "lg meid changer" to put my MEID back onto the phone, then had to call verizon to switch my number back to the env touch from my current phone since *228 or online activation wouldnt work. I think they have to bypass the notion that you can't get an env touch now without changing the data plan. but all is working! hooray!

I think having a good complete backup of the file system through BitPim would help out.  That will have the meid copied.
