i was in the internet browser, i pressed the end key to get out of it and noticed that the phone was reset and all of my shortcuts (side arrow menu) and my wallpapers were all like the phone was when it came out of the box and my sezurity code was reset, the store said it became 0000-i had it set 4 different numbers(wouldnt work) or my last 4 digits(this kept popping up "the default security code is the last 4 digits of your phone number)

Not the EXACT same thing. But i was browsing the internet and listening to music (love that you can do both at the same time) and the phone reset, and i lost all my contacts.

Wow, those are both pretty serious problems with the phone. I hope you both called to report the problem to VZW's techs.

his exact words were "IT SHOWS THAT YOU WENT TO THE SWQURITY MENU AND CHANGED YOUR CODE WHICH ERASED EVERYTHING".... I NEVER went into this menu (first time was after the phone restored itself) - im going to a different Verizon to see if they can exchange it for me (I paid full retail - $436 last friday) so I hope they replace it for me.......

I would call as soon as you can. That's something they need to start looking in to ASAP so a fix can be included in the next firmware update.

Well i actually think the Contacts might of been a result of messing with BitPim. But my phone did restart in the middle of browsing.

you right your phone should not erase your contacts although it sucks you should get "Back up assistance" its free if you have a verizon wireless account online. so if you do lose your contact you can just re upload them

I was actually having a problem where my contacts were getting erased from my phone every night. I called CS and they tried to troubleshoot it but it didn't work so they told me to go to a verizon store and get all the contacts transferred from there. They said there was something going on with the backup assistant that everytime it tried to update my contacts at the end of the night it would just delete them for some reason. After taking it to the store i haven't had any problems whatsoever.

Hmm, I hadn't even considered that the problem might be with BA. That's slightly less troublesome. There are other ways of backing up contact lists and it should be much easier to fix a problem with the BA software than the firmware on the phone.

Ya they said that something with the BA was acting up on my phone. I don't know if it is the BA program itself or my phone. But hopefully it is just the BA program and there isn't a major glitch in the phone's sofware.

Well, as much as I hate to think that the BA app is flawed across the board for people with the Touch, I would prefer that problem to a major glitch on the Touch that will require people to wait for a firmware update.

ya i'm somehow thinking it isn't anything to do with the BA program but with the phone's software. I'm sure we will have another firmware update in a month or so.
