So recently, I got an off-brand magnetic-flap pouch for my Touch off of ebay. As soon as I started using the case, I noticed my battery life was about ⅔ of what it had been. I tried a ton of combinations of different settings, etc. over the past two weeks to try to figure out the problem.

Basically to make a long story short, the only conclusion I can come to is that somehow the magnets in the holster somehow cause the battery to drain. Physically, I could see how this is possible, but I was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem.

After taking the phone out of the case, my battery life has returned to normal

On a side note, after I figured this out, I cut one of the magnets out of the case and it appears much stronger that I would have expected, so maybe the problem has to do with the cheap ebay case using the wrong strength of magnets.

if you haven't already noticed, magnets from the speakers are what turns the internal display on and off, it may be that the internal display is constantly on.

Well I'll be dipped!  At first, I just thought jeebz88 was nuts.  I played a magnet over the keyboard about where those silvery things would hit and was able to make the screen come on.

patrick, you may be on to something.  If the screen is not staying on all the time, it could be turning on and off many times during the day.

This might explain some of the battery life issues for this phone.  Good call guys.   Cool

Wow I didn't realize that the speaker magnets control the internal screen, it definitely explains the battery life issue. Good find.
