It's a bug - the Touch can't save custom words.

I just HAD to try typing on the qwerty to test it but it failed. My city name is not recognized by T9, imagine my unhappiness in trying to update my contact with city names. There are 3 sequential letters on the same number key also, so it's a major pain to enter it.
It would be nice if it had a memory!

This is a widely known problem with LG's entire new lineup on Verizon. The only thing you can do is peg VZW with complaints so that they know people are mad about this issue, and maybe they will address it in a firmware upgrade. I'm not keeping my fingers crossed though

UGH this is really irritating. T9 doesn't know "haha" and I use it in probably 75% of the texts I send (and I text a loooot). I really wish there was a way to fix this. The janky LG VX 5200 I had in 2005 learned my words eventually but no dice on this phone =/

Just use "lol" instead of "haha".

Just use "lol" instead of "haha". I like to switch things up and use both
