well from what I could make out it looks pretty cool, the person should of done the video with some lighting on ;). I wonder if that sliding clock can be repaced with a new custom flash clock :)

She admitted when she posted it that her camera was really crappy.

Nice review! It's nice to see it compared to the voyager.  Looks like a good phone.  Accelerometer, 3.5mm jack, the browser looks pretty solid, overall it looks like a sweet. phone!. Thanks for the post.

With everything I see about the phone (both pictures and videos), I see they worked on all the "concerns" the Voyager owners had.  My only question now is did they change the caller id picture size?  Another words, has anyone seen a video or picture with an incoming call (txt too would be sweet) showing the picture of the caller?  Thanks

You might want to refrain from posting the same thing on different threads.

Sorry, just figured in case someone saw only the other thread without looking at this one (the original one)...  Noted and learned!

Yes, discussion from people that have the phone have described the picture id's as much larger on the Touch's screen.  I haven't heard anything about picture id's for text messages.

And no, posting in multiple locations to try getting more attention to a question or topic is not acceptable.  In the end, it only creates crossover discussions and clutter.  Posting something in one place is enough.  The people that are going to be able to supply the answers are going to see threads with new posts and then answer if/when they want to.

heres an unboxing vid for everyone who likes those.

I liked the video for the most part but I think combining an unboxing and function review into one video is a bad idea if you haven't actually used the phone before.  Especially since the guy wasn't even familiar with some of the basic functions.  He clearly didn't realize the phone's virtual qwerty would pop up if he turned the phone to the side, instead of using abc mode to punch in the website.

Thanks for posting the video waffelking31.

Yeah that last one is from Noah who's an editor at phonedog.com. He had just got the phone that day. He is going to do a much further in depth video on the phone soon.

I wasn't bashing his video so much as questioning the decision to play with the phone on video before he had a better understanding of the phone's full potential.  If he wanted to capture the unboxing AND include a review of the features, it would have made more sense to film the unboxing and then edit in the review after he had more play time with it.  I'm always happy to see preview vids, especially from the pros that have plenty of experience making the videos.

I have a picture of the size of the caller ID. Is there an acceptable place to post these? It's a combined picture with how the Mobile IM looks. I didn't know if posting it here would be acceptable, so hence my asking ;)

You can always post images relevant to a question or thread's topic within that thread.  Thanks for asking though.

No prob ;) Don't know why I second-guessed here, hahaa

anyways here's some pics I took of the Touch's screen...

This is the cap for the inbox/outbox. This is my one and only upset :( The inbox holds 200, outbox holds 50. The numbers are higher in this picture because I have picture messages, and they up the count of the inbox/outbox without taking away from how many SMS messages they can hold.

And here's pictures of the Mobile IM, and then a pic of the incoming call screen. The little grayed out area above the caller ID picture is where the caller's number and number's location shows up.

I got spoiled on my enV2. That held 300 for the inbox and 100 for the outbox. I guess it's not that much of a difference, haha, but with the threaded text message feature, my outbox seems to deplete rather quickly.

It looks like they stuck the Touch with the same inbox/sent messages limitations as the Voyager.  That caller id image size is a definite improvement.  I never understood why they would have such a large screen, keep the caller id pictures tiny but leave most of that large screen blank when a call came in.  Seems like such a basic line of logic to increase the picture id's size along with the screen's size.

I am having a bit of trouble understanding the addition of threaded texting but still having different max capacities for sent and received messages.  I guess we can't have everything make sense.

Yup, I like how the caller ID picture is so big. It's an improvement for sure, I missed having that on my enV2. I had the Chocolate 2 and one of the things I really liked about it was the caller ID pic and that the little click wheel lit up when a call came in, I felt like I was in a disco, haha.

As for the inbox/outbox, I wish it were increased in size. The threaded text messaging is a great idea, given that you can keep track of the conversation a little better, but if you text more than one person regularly your sent messages will get erased really quick, so I agree, it doesn't seem to make much sense that the inbox/outbox count isn't higher than it is. I wonder if software updates would raise this count (given that if it is possible that it's also actually a big enough issue for Verizon/LG to want to do something about it).

If I do decide to get the Touch in August when my NE2 is up, one of the first calls I'll make to their customer service is to complain about that limitation and have them note it in my account.  Hell, I may snag one of the corporate email addresses that I have seen posted on the net to ask where the common sense was when they developed the threaded texting for the Touch.  The more I think about it the more I am annoyed.

Really?  I think having 200 text messages saved in the phone is plenty enough.  Why take a phone that has some great features and use space just to be able to save more than 200 messages.  I don't think it's bad at all.  I mean really?  When do you need more than 200 messages in your phone?  If you lock the texts you will be able to store a little more.

I agree, 200 is plenty. I however text a lot of my friends, a few of them all the time, so over the course of a month I go through anywhere between 6500-8000 text messages on average. So maybe a "heavy-texter" like myself forgoes the luxury of the threaded text messaging, haha. 200 is about that or half of what I send and receive on a daily basis.

I also text very heavily, but I just make sure that the messages that I want are locked, and the messages I don't want are deleted at the end of the day.  Just still seems like a useless feature to incorporate into the phone instead of something more important.

eh, i'm agreeing with duck here.  i really wish it had a bigger capacity..however, 200 is much bigger than the 50 my env held so perhaps i'll be fine with it!

I don't need more than 200 text message storage in my inbox.  My problem is with the unbalanced distribution to the sent messages.  It doesn't makes sense to offer conversational/threaded texting but leave the outbox numbers at 1/4 of the inbox.  If you can set the messaging view to show both sides of the conversation, then your phone should be able to keep equal parts of that conversation for the same amount of time.

That part E-T I DO agree with.  That makes more sense then wanting just to be able to store 500 texts.lol.  They should have just cut it down to 100/100 rather than an uneven ratio like that.

I wouldn't want less than the 200 messages I have now.  I'm like duckrodeo in that I text upwards of 10,000 messages a month.  I don't want to have to stop and clear my inbox several times a day.  That just gets annoying.  It would have been so easy to implement 150 more capacity for outgoing messages.  They don't use that much internal memory and it would have balanced the phone's capabilities better.

Just in case you haven't seen Noah's follow up video from his unboxing, here is the "Part 2".

I think it is very well done, and non-bias.  It sure helps hearing reviewers who can compare to other devices.  Otherwise, how do you know what is good and what isn't?
