I was able to upload a ringtone via USB cable to my phone. I don't have an SD card yet. It showed up under MyMusic > AllSongs. How do I move it so it's available as a ringtone?

When you say you uploaded it via your USB cable, you mean you used bitpim to install the ringtone, right? I posted in another thread some where with the important folder locations, including the ringtones folder. If you use bitpim, your ringtone shouldn't show up under your music, unless you dropped it into the wrong folder.

HaHa... sorry, I haven't completely read the manual yet... too excited I guess. I just hooked up the USB cable to my laptop and the only folder (for the phone) that shows up in Windows is "Internal Memory". I just dragged the .mp3 files from a folder on my laptop to "Internal Memory". I guess I was hoping to get lucky. Just did some digging into Bitpim. Obviously it is available for the Touch... since you asked... but I don't see it on the list of supported phones. I should be getting my SD card today or tomorrow... so is Bitpim even necessary after installing the chip?

The processes for adding ringtones to the Touch are somewhat different than those available to Voyager owners so you may not ever need bitpim to get them on your phone. From what I have read from other Touch owners, once you install your memory card you should be able to load your ringtone files into the my_sounds folder on the card and then go in and choose to set them as ringtones. As long as that is the case, you will never NEED bitpim unless you want to add flash clocks/wallpapers/games to your phone. All the important file transfers can be done through the USB Mass Storage feature.

Alternatively you can just attach the ringtone in an email, and send it to your phone, yournumber@vzpix.com

I can confirm that you can use the "USB Mass storage" option to access the "My Sounds" folder and add mp3's there. After that you can set as ring tones but you must do it from the "My Sounds" menu from the phone. They do not show up in the normal ring tone lists.

Here is what I did... I sent myself a picture message with the sound file attached and you can save it as a ringtone from there!

The one thing I am woundering about though is doe the ringtones have to be .wav, .mp3 or any file format the phone supports?

I did it successfully with .mp3's. Bluetooth and email worked fine.

Moving the .mp3 files from My Music to My Sounds did the trick to use them as a ringtone.

You can add wallpapers through the memory card too.

My post was referring to flash wallpapers, not regular jpg wallpapers. You cannot add flash wallpapers through the card.

How do you access the my sounds folder?
