OK heres the thing, i do I.T. work for my school and whatnot but i enjoy my freetime so my teacher gave me some random bits of technology to tinker with, when i saaw the vx1100 the first thing that came to my mind was 'THE MOST AMAZING GAMEBOY EVER'. i want to port over android 2.1 or maybe something lower depending on how this processor handles it. i know this phones 3D acceleration is well, AMAZING. but my problem is that this phone has a custom proprietary OS that is synced to work with its diverse hardware (the camera is german that should be enough to tell you about the rest of the phone), all ive been doing today is research on this phone and its become a challenge so i refuse to give up on it, i found out that linux has a android kernal that will work with this phones chipset but because of the hardware and the U.I. of the phone its rather close to impossible to flash the kernal onto the phone. i havnt even found a version of linux for it and linux can work on EVERYTHING lol. anyways i was wondering if there has been any kind of work in progress around here that i could join in on related to porting android onto this phone.

thanks again, and your welcome if i start an amazing thread seeing as this is a popular subject since the release of android :3

Welcome to the forums Kioshimi.  You bring up an interesting idea.  I think the closest I have seen to this topic was trying to upgrade to the newest ver of BREW and porting other games and apps to it.  As for running ANDROID, I think the chipset may be a bit underpowered.  Still, if you have one that you can play with it is worth the effort.  Two things I can think of right off the top and that is to get BitPim so you can gain access to the files already installed and then get the Tech manual for the phone.  You can still download BitPim at bitpim.org.  As for the Tech manual, I know I still have it in pdf, I can search my files if you don't have it.  Has lots of good info and schematics.

thanks for the reply, the chipset is strong enough to run 2.0 eclair but the problem is flashing it over because of the way the phone organizes the files on it, i have bitpim (had it from the start) but im not big on the layout of it, nice program tho, and one reason i need android or linux on it is because i need java but BREW doesnt run java or even any java emu's, i also need flash, this phone has flash lite which is like flash 10 but less and im not big on any of the swf's i saw, my basic plan was to turn it into a nice little mobile gaming phone but its looking to be more work than its worth, i really like the phone tho its amazing but its just been thrown out the window by the community which happens to include all the devs

but hey again thanks for the help this is still going to be an on and off project for me so ill post if i get anything to happen

Yes, it is a shame that such a phone never received all the attention that it should have.  I think BREW had something to do with it.  I know I'll keep it until it dies but it would be nice if it had a few more features like able to use pdf, doc, ppt and such.  Good luck in your plans.

I keep telling myself that one of these days I will learn BREW, but by the time I get around to it Brew will be dead, or my phone.

im not even gonna bother, the only good thing brew is good for is if they want a really good way to run an online school without the kids messing with the comps to put a desktop version of brew on it, god i would kill myself if they did that at my school lol
