if u go to phone settings and u go under qwerty shotcut..
watever shorcut u select will come up as soon as u start typing..
for example.. if u select txt msg.. once u open the phone n start typing it will automatically be a txt msg.. sorry if its a repost.

I believe what he means is that you can set full messages to keys on the keyboard.

That would kinda be like the T9 thing where you start typing a word and it'll suggest words that you commonly use.

At any rate, a classmate of mine showed me that he could also mean if you start typing on the keyboard, it'll go straight to typing a text message.

That's how my Voyager was. If set QWERTY shortcuts ON in the menu, then you could be looking at the home screen with the phone flipped open, and all you had to do was hit a letter, and it would automatically start typing a text message. When you were done typing your message, you just hit the up arrow, type in the number and hit SEND. Saves you having to open your messages and click on NEW TXT MSG.
